The real Mitt Romney surfaces as a school bully. (Washington Post)

Contrasting Obama's recent statement in support of gay marriage comes the revelation that Romney was a huge jackass to a classmate in high school. This follows news with headlines alleging Romney's disregard for animals and contempt for workers.

Edit: My apologies to anyone who might be upset by the lack of person-first language in the thread title (i.e. my use of the phrase "gay classmate" instead of "classmate who was gay").

It's on the front of Drudge right now.

As much as I'd love to give Romney everything he deserves, this seems pretty weak to me... I sure hope what I did while I was in high school doesn't come back to be used against me.

Not surprising from the media, but using what someone did in high school to try to paint their views as an adult is pretty weak...

ABC News has learned that the Romney camp is reaching out to several of Romney's old HS friends to ask them to offer "supporting remarks"

True enough, but it's seen as relevant in the context of other revelations and recent statements he's made.

This is the most useful part of the MSM ignoring RP, they are now opening up full broadsides on Mitt. If anything actually really sticks, the RNC still has RP ready to roll.

This is garbage.
While I have no question that Mitt was (is) a pompous jerk, this story reeks of political spin.
If y'all haven't noticed, there is a push right now to paint Obama as the gay-friendly candidate. I do not believe Obama or Mitt is "gay-friendly" (because neither of them are individual-friendly, and gay people are individuals when it comes down to it). Regardless, I believe the Obama campaign has some metrics that show that "gay rights" is going to be an important swing issue for moderates, and the tide of the country has recently turned more "pro" than "con." Hence, Obama is trying to sway such moderates to his side while the minions paint Mitt as the bully beating up gay kids at school. I believe most people in this country (even those on the fence about gay marriage) are against harassing gay children.
Bottom line: This is a ridiculous piece with a political goal, not an information goal. There is much more to despise about Mitt Romney more recently - going back to high school to drag out a sob story is cheap.

Oh wow, they mean literally.

I thought this was just a metaphor for how he's sic'd his lawyers on the r3volution during this campaign.

But, no, it seems he was really a school bully, lol.

I concur with PauliticsPaulitics; this is not much of an issue, though it might explain some of the things we're likely to see from Mitt as his nomination becomes less of a sure-thing, and he becomes more agitated that it wasn't delievered to him on a silver platter.

Thread title should sound more like

"Presidential candidate Mitt Romney sexually assulted gay schoolmate with scissors with the help of multiple young boys."

I'm a psychology student, and it sounds like Romney is closet homosexual.

UMAD? :D

After the incident, Lauber seemed to disappear. He returned days later with his shortened hair back to its natural brown. He finished the year, but ultimately left the school before graduation — thrown out for smoking a cigarette.

Lauber died in 2004, according to his three sisters.

There you go, Romney molested him, and then he died...how's that for spin?

I don't give a fuck what he did years ago. What bothers me is how he acts no better today, and tried to deny it.

can you see them pulling the strings already??? Look... its Gay People.. keep looking at them until AFTER THE elections!

If a Republican had won against Obama like Obama won against a Republican in the Illinois Senate (arranging to have sealed divorce records leaked) there would have been a huge investigation and criminal charges. But nobody in the media or the government cares how that happened....no, they're much more interested in portraying Mitt as a gay bashing bully. (This is twice in a week....)

What does the bible say about a house built upon sand? Did anybody think Mitt was the MSM choice for President or simply their second choice behind Huntsman to get slaughtered by Obama?

And I will compare this event to the newsletters which

a) were tame
b) were not targeting individuals
c) not untypical of even how MSM at the time might discuss minorities or racial issues (which is almost impossible to do without offending somebody)
d) were not actually Ron Paul (where as I don't think Romney had a staff to assault people for him)
e) were old, old news

If Ron Paul is not the nominee, I won't expect an "issues" campaign or media focus on the same.

And the primary fight is not over and Mitt is a gay-bashing homophobe and this is yet another reason he is unelectable.

Anyone else find it interesting that this thoroughly-researched article comes out the day after Obama announces his "evolution"? Was this hit piece directly coordinated with the White House? Or has the author just been sitting on this story for a while and finally got the green light from his editor due to the recent announcement?

And said announcement came one day after the North Carolina voting. Chain of events. NC bans gay marriage. Obama comes out as pro-gay marriage. Romney attacks "suspected" homosexual.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, CISPA, NDAA, WAR, etc...

You can't make this shit up man. It's art the way they play Americans, it really is. Like a well-tuned violin sheep are getting stroked and played on a daily.

Getting the green light on this specific day would be coordination with the Obama Campaign, even if it is one-sided. (I.e. they did something intended to help Obama, doesn't matter if orders came over from the Campaign or not).
