What's really going on with the media using this term? My brother was in an internet chat room last night and he heard dozens of different people using the word "surge" or "surging" over and over again, "Romney is surging", "Santorum is surging", "Gingrich may surge again", "Huntsman is going to surge", etc...he said that he heard "surge" or "surging" so many times it became completely repetitive.

It seems like when they use the term "surge" or "surging" they are planting the suggestion in the mind of the viewer that the victory or rise of a particular candidate is inevitable so you might as well just become passive to the tidal wave and vote for him.

It brings to mind a stampede or something that you can't help getting caught up and dragged along with.

That's why the Revolution in made up of 'surge surfers' brah! We keep our head above water and let the wave rise, crest and wash over and beyond us as it recedes and finally crashes on shore. While we paddle back out and get ready to catch the next one!
