Pens have the power to liberate and enslave. Swords only have the power to enslave, so I voted Agree with the original statement.

You can't use a pen to see that good ideas, when expressed eloquently enough, win out. At least at the moment, thus our current situation. It takes a long time for the pen to defeat a bunch of sword swinging brutes who can't read.

Pen Shall always be superior to the sword.
I'll take pen as a euphemism for ideas. You can stab and kill men with swords but you can't kill an idea. You may however, overcome it with another idea.
Ideas are immortal, and as somethingfuckfaceCullen is my witness, you may stab an immortal a thousand times, you'll still end up throwing up cuz of the ubiquitous vulgar presence of Twilight femfans.

In college, I submitted a handwritten paper on some B.S. topic. At the bottom of one page, I wrote, "the pen is mightier" and on the next page continued the phrase. However, my "pen" and "is" were a bit too close together and it looked like, "the penis mightier."

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Oh, and once I found $10.

The pen requires swords to be effective. The sword requires to no pen.

"Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons."
-General MacArthur

The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword

Enslavement is not from the sword unless you are in jail or restrained. Enslavement is mostly from fear of the sword ... laws and propaganda.

Let us submit to a test of reason. I have an offer for people who believe in the power of the pen.

Let's each agree to bring $100 to a clandestine meeting.
We shall each set our $100 in one pile between us.

You bring a pen. I will bring a sword. The tool of whoever walks away with $200 shall be considered mightier.

If it turns out the pen is truly mightier than the sword I will concede the second amendment has no useful purpose.

The sign on the door at the meeting: NO SWORDS ALLOWED

Cynic in me says the pen is being held by an enemy belligerent and the sword is a predator drone.

But I still lean towards the pen.

The keyboard is mightier than both. Nobody writes with pens anymore except to sign documents. But the document is written with the keyboard. And the keyboard can be used to control the predator drone.
