I don't know if anyone if familiar with the Opie and Anthony Show or the recent controversy regarding XM's decision to suspend and possibly fire the duo. I listened to them up to when the were thrown off the air in 2002.

The point is that their following is quite large and they have always seemed to advocate some form of libertarianism. Anthony frequently remarked how much he liked Reagan (particularly his stated goals). The show has essentially declared war on the FCC pointing out how in a free society, the government has absolutely no claim to subscription media and therefore to pressure such media into doing things is contrary to our ideals of liberty.

I have joined the 'official unofficial forum and there ARE fervent Ron Paul supporters- but not enough. I suggest that if one happens to like the Opie and Anthony Show, they should register at the forum (Wackbag.com) and occasionally chime in about how all of the candidates are carbon copies of one another- except for Ron Paul.

As a general rule, we don't want to flood supportive forums because it can be interpreted the wrong way (invading Glen Beck's or Hannity's forums however are certainly fair game in my view. If anyone had an in with these shock jocks, educate them on Ron Paul!!

I'm one of those. And you're right...O&A's audience would be big dr. paul supporters. The biggest thing we all share is the desire for free speech (thats my favorite freedom). I've been trying to send in some e-mails and stuff to the show to get some love for Dr. Paul, but haven't been very successful.

it was ridiculous fighting a war against the main stream media for Dr. Paul and special interest groups and XM for O&A at the same time.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but O and A is a bad idea. They are neo-cons, pro the Iraq war, and because they have never had real politicians on their show, they will definitely not act polite. (Stern meanwhile has had governors Pataki and Whitman on, and was even quite polite to some 3rd party guy running for NYC mayor quite a while back.)

You can try if you want, but while Stern will be much more receptive to the message and actually get his listeners behind it, O and A will do the opposite.

wow....don't listen to the show much eh? They liked Obama until the Imus thing. Anthony is the most conservative, but even he isn't a neo-con. Jimmy and Op both would definitely be more moderate. They are also very pro personal liberty.

Howie would have Dr. Paul on....maybe this friday??

I think it doesn't matter - push whoever you can to get him on the show. It's the MESSAGE that wins hearts and minds, not the MEDIUM.

Absolutely not.

Yeah, I don't think Opie and Anthony is a good idea. They had some senatorial candidate from NJ on in mid-2004 and they totally made a farce out of the whole ordeal.

Dr. Paul should associate himself with more respectable folk.

I agree that Dr. Paul going on the show, at least at this point, would not be the optimum choice. I was thinking more along the lines of on a slow day the duo talking about the candidates and mention how Ron Paul is the ONLY one who is pro-liberty and has the mindset of government should leave people alone. Including those in subscription entertainment.

i think you guys fail to see the intelligence of O&A. When radio hosts were being fired for things that were being said...they were one of the very few people speaking out against the media and the people that were attacking people for talking about things they were paid to do. if you guys want to say that maybe Dr. Paul shouldn't go on the show, thats fine, but don't talk about O&A like they are just going to attack the guy.

The main problem is O and A are hawks.

Again, send in the emails. List an address here. However, especially after their latest scandal, Paul in unlikely to go on.

if you guys are looking for a way to get to the O&A audience without using O&A, Ron and Fez is the show that comes on after them and Ron likes to get into politics and criticizes Bush a lot. The audience isn't as big..but the core audience is the same. Here is Ron and Fez's email address:

[email protected]

Earl, their producer's email (even though he might not be there too much longer) is:

I think Bob & Tom would be a great show for him to go on. I'd have to say they are probably the smartest hosts out of all the comedy radio shows. They also frequently express libertarian sentiments, but they tend to keep that low key. They are also very opposed to the way the government has been interfering in the radio business lately.

I don't know if Bob & Tom would have him on. They usually tend to focus more on the comedy and entertainment and not serious political discussion. Perhaps if we could get one of the guests to mention Ron? I know that Drew Hastings and Tim Wilson are hard core libertarians and they are on the show all the time.

Lol

I am Lucky over on wackbag.com and have been there for a long time. Anthony is Conservative and hates the war in Iraq and is very open to RP. Opie is hard to tell he seems very Conservative but at times he seems Liberal. Lil Jimmy would love Ron Paul. I have sent Anthony a message about Ron Paul and his hot babe and hopefully they will check out the ronpaul08. com site and like it.

Hoo Hoo would just blow off RP.

Lol

haha, there we go. I've also been posting in the political forum. fortunately for us, the more intelligent people that post in there are RP fans.

I need to stay out of the political forum there. The one time I git banned from wackbag was because I posted there. Give them hell there.

I miss Lil. Jimmy.

I don't know.

I think this whole discussion is pointless. O&A got in trouble for whatever they did last by their employers, not by the government. To the best of my knowledge, the FCC doesn't regulate subscription media, especially satellite radio.

For Dr Paul to say that they shouldn't be fired would go against his stance on being an advocate of the free-market. Were it the gov't shutting them off, then yes. But since it's their employers, no.

This is shaky ground. Best to stay where we can keep a firm footing.

Agreed which is why this whole 9/11 truth thing is so troubling. I had no idea there was such a rabid following of Paul from that circle. O&A's audience would be likely be Paul supporters however. If anyone is active on there message boards that would be the place to get the word out.

yes

I just went over there and was perusing a pro RP thread and RP is well represented indeed. In fact I was shocked at the amount of members that sopport RP. I know most of them and most of them I never would have taken to be supporters.

Both shows are too unpredictable to be a good idea. The last thing we need is Paul getting grilled on his sex life by Stern, despite Stern's probable sympathies. It would be good, however, to get Stern to endorse. Perhaps a phone interview. But no in-studio stuff.
