I really hope this message reaches the campaign.

Focus your energy on Older People. Please.

They are the biggest voter group. They decide the elections. Bring assurance to them. Make sure they know they are going to be taken care of. The young crowd is taken care of at this point. Grassroots projects are making sure of the growth. We NEED the older vote. THEY get out to the polls in MASS.

I'm 23 years old. 99% of politicians don't take people my age or younger seriously. I saw Kinky Friedman attempt an amazing run at Texas Governor, but he focused most of his attention on the young vote, hoping to get them out and vote (which would have made him win by a landslide). Even with the massive amount of online support he had, he came in 4th. The sad truth is there are way more young people who will NOT vote than we think. Our ONLY hope for this election is the Older vote.

I urge all supporters of Ron Paul to get out and talk to "Older" people.

I urge the Ron Paul campaign to focus a lot more energy on getting an older demographic of voters.

look up the stats on voter age. we've got the young and it is growing all the time. It's time to get the golden age on our side! If you think about it, Ron Paul's message is not a new one; it had just been lost for so long that it seems that way. Hard work and personal drive should mean something.

And I hope no offense is taken, but Ron Paul is the oldest of the candidates, and has a real opportunity to level with the older voters. None of the other candidates have that on their side.

Please, for the love of the campaign, work on the Older vote. I, as a young voter, will not be offended at all.

spread the message.

You are 100% correct

For the life of me I don't understand why the campaign didn't take out a full page ad in the AARP. Unfortunately the deadline for the Feb issue is past. While I agree that canvassing is most important we must use the media to our advantage where possible since we will not get voluntary coverage

the older people are probably going to respond well to their social security being protected and stopping war to help do so.

People don't like to admit they have made a mistake. The older voters have made a mistake they refuse to admit. That is why Son of Cain is getting so popular. Son of Cain represents the idea that no mistake has been made and no lies have been told and no betrayal has taken place.

Great thread! Most older people simply haven't heard of Ron Paul. I know what someone is thinking. "But Ron Paul is all over the internet." And THERE lies the problem! How many 70+ year olds do you know have a MySpace page? If they get on the net at all they're only going to the "safe" websites. And of course there is the MSM blackout. Here are my suggestions for breaking through this with the elderly.

1) If it's not to late anywhere have voter registration drives at seniors centers.
2) Engage senior citizen meetup members (we have a few) to reach out to other seniors.
3) Talk to nursing homes and retirement centers about having a "meet the campaign" night at their place. Usually nursing homes are dying to have young people come in and present a program to their residents.
4) Volunteer for "Meals on wheels" and include a slim jim and/or DVD with every delivery.
5) CANVAS! I wish I had started doing this sooner than I did. A lot of older people are at home during the day and if you have ANY personality at all they will at least listen to what you have to say and take your information.

We've missed our shot in Tennessee, but I think these ideas may work for others.

Regards,

John M. Drake
