I listened to the latest Peter Schiff podcast. I'm not posting it... it's like an hour long!
Anyway, he made some interesting points:
He said 2.3% growth is far from 'the best economy the world has ever seen.' Infact Obama had many years of 2.3%.
Unemployment is lower because the jobs are in the service sector taken by mostly women who need to work because they need to. Also he said unemployment was coming down in 15/16 so its trajectory was in place before Donald took office.
Trade deficits that Trump railed against are bigger now than they were 4 years ago.
He never once said anything about the debt and the deficits which are soaring. He said for a Republican president you would expect him to mention it but Trump doesn't care.
He condemns Socialism but came out with his own socialist policies like paid parental leave which has big costs for employers.
He said all he cares about and brags about is the stock market which is an enormous bubble just like the dot com bubble in 2000 and the mortgage/real estate bubble in 07.
He compared Trump to George W. Bush. He is presiding over big spending and a huge bubble and is not being honest with the American people. The bubble will pop eventually and Trump will get the blame just like Bush. Capitalism will get the blame and so will Republicans who are cheering all this nonsense. Either way he says there will be a real socialist president either now or in 2024.

He is basing it on facts though. The stats dont support the claim that this is 'the best economy the world has ever seen'
The comparisons to Bush are apt. He is doing exactly what Bush did but the trade deficit and budget deficits are even bigger. This is one huge bubble and Schiff is right: it's going to pop and there will be a serious recession.

Yeah, I don't think Conservatives are living in the realm of reality. The creators of deficit spending were the GOP. When W. was POTUS, I couldn't tell the difference between him and any other run of the mill liberal.

Do what you need to do. Personally I'm buying as much gold as I can.. The crash will happen eventually and its going to be BIG. Don't let the mania of the crowds deceive you (stock market etc). This is a classic boom/bust scenario.

Gold is okay, but you cannot eat it. If it is global lots of people will be hurting, it is better to prepare in other ways, IMHO.

I get that but if everyone is hurting gold isn't going to help. Bartering has been done for a long time, and when people need something in exchange for something tangible, like; food, clean water, services--etc...

So many of the conservative pundits have been praising the speech. Their main praise is that it was so moving, and that they cried. Get these guys a box of tissues, and some ice cream. They need to watch a drama on the Lifetime network, not the State of the Union Address.
