The official Festivus 2011 thread

Does the airing have to be directly to the person or can it be behind the person's back? I'm new to this.

According to festivusweb-
[FONT=&#8220]If you are shy, anonymously write your grievances on a sticky note and post the note to the Festivus Pole. You can always put the phone number of the off-track betting place or the local bagel shop on the sticky note just to throw people off.[/FONT]
[FONT=&#8220]If your family and friends are shy and reserved types, keep the airing of grievances short, or possibly include a rule that the only personal grievances that can be aired must be directed to those who did not attend the gathering (fair game) or public figures such as politicians and celebrities (always fair game).

It seems that tradition tells us that we can air our grievances against folks without their being present.

Christmas itself was started by heathans and pagans. Many Reformed Christians don't celebrate the Christ-mass, or any mass for that matter, because it is a Rome-inspired "holy day" that has no basis in the Scriptures. The Roman Church transformed the pagan holiday that began as worshipping the sun god Yule (as in yuletide) into what we now know as the Christ-mass.

This is why I am so amused when "Christians" get their undies in a bunch when someone calls it a "holiday tree". Profound ignorance of the history of their own religion. Or just looking for something to bitch about.

Well, the Scriptures already tell us what holy days to observe...and that is the Lord's Day, every Sunday.

This is what is called the regulative principle of worship. It basically means that we worship in the manner that Jesus taught us to worship and no way else.

Do the scriptures mention Easter, Jubilee, or Passover? I'm rusty on that. /curious
