December 16th?!

"Rand Paul, the middle-son of Ron Paul, speaks on behalf of his father at the Tea Party Rally in Boston on December 16th, 2007."

If Orenbus doesn't return no new moneybombs will be organized here at RPFs... probably... I am gone soon too (not posting here anymore). Only one that is left is Jackie Moon.

Some people on facebook are preparing Jan. 7th (Rands birthday)... and I agree with them. More time is needed for preparation because there are less people involved and people are less excited.

Next money bomb is going on right now. If the staff here would get on top of things and post about it to the front page, more people would know about it.

Well I for one will miss reading your posts here Barrex! I'll ask the "Black this Out" crew about stepping up and helping with one for the 16th or the 7th...

Would it be dumb to run a #WhoIsRandPaul money bomb and information bomb? Maybe before, during, and after debate? This comes after finding out that Rand's number one google question has been Who Is Rand Paul since November 5th

I dunno. Its nice to have stuff set up to show to people who google that, but a moneybomb of that makes it feel like he's acknowledging his lack of name recognition, which isnt really a positive narrative imo. Also most of the donations would be coming from people who already know who he is.

There has been a lot of talk about how the good ol' money bomb days are over and for the most part, they are.

Here are a couple reasons...

1) Ron used to be the shiny object in the room, now there are even shinier objects. There are a ton of anti-establishment candidates. Rand used to be the most quirky phenom candidate but then characters like Trump and Carson came in. The "angry money" is going else where and Rand can't really be blamed for that.

2) Rand is polling low, its hard for people to support a perceived loser, right now the only people who are donating and getting actively involved are the most hardcore activists. In a way, we're back to the old school days where Ron first started and 1% of the movement is doing 98% of the work. When Rand comes back in the polls or finishes well in Iowa, a lot of the casual supporters will jump back on the bandwagon.

I'm still here. :)

I don't mind reviving our efforts/strategies we used for Black This Out and Tea Party 11, but I would need to re-prioritize some other things I'm working on.

If Orenbus isn't able to lead the way on these, I don't mind stepping in out of necessity. I've told him that I want him to head these up so that we aren't both taking things in different directions like in 2012.

A few ideas I've been thinking about:

Tea Party 16 - A different spin on the original ideas attaching anger over spending and government power to "throwing tea overboard". I think it'd be interesting if this was reinforced by allowing supporters to send a Tea-Party themed Christmas card to family and friends with a request to defer any money spent on gifts for them to make a donation to Rand's campaign for Christmas. Could do some other things like the "Ship Your Enemy Glitter" but with tea grinds, a tea bag ornament to hang on the tree, etc. Main focus would be to get donations from outside the base.

Liberty Resolution - A New Year's moneybomb. I particularly am in love with this idea.. but I'm not sure we could get the support I'd hope for to make it truly successful. The idea is we all make a new years resolution for liberty and for a Rand Paul nomination by holding a huge rally at Time Square of Rand Paul supporters. It'd be incredible to get 10,000 supporters on Time Square for the ball drop, wearing a spin-off of those hats you always see. Last year they were CoverGirl. Not sure how easy it would be to coordinate production or how it would be funded... but I want chants of President Paul on every TV tuning in on New Years, just before Iowa. I'd hope that this would spiral into massive donations on January 1. Sort of a massive cultural flashmob style event. It could probably be carried onward to the 7th, Rand's birthday.

Liberty Stream - We could change the dynamic of moneybombs and go toward a new model that aims for supporters to donate just $10 every week. 100,000 supporters can generate $12 million a quarter. This would eliminate the need to constantly theme and rebuild marketing. We can just collectively market this throughout the primary season and ramp up support. So instead of a one lump sum, we use our numbers and grow it organically. This is also a very effective fundraising solution if Rand does take the nomination and goes into a general election against Hillary's big money. By that time, 1 million supporters per week becomes quite a superior method. You could still theme specific dates, but those are built into the weekly donation and marketing shifts for that week for it.

I have the Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, Imgur, Facebook group, etc... but Orenbus has the website.

The last I talked to him he said he was feeling really sick. I'm not sure if anyone else has heard from him since, but I'm going to see if I can find out what's up.

Like dusman said I'd really want Orenbus to be involved. So I'd like to wait a few days before anything gets started or set. I don't want there to end up being competing money bombs again. And the campaign is still promoting their "money bomb" too so I think we're safe to wait a bit.

If we haven't heard from him by next week then we can come back and decide what we want to do going forward.

Thanks for all of your hard work everybody.

I think any date is ok for a moneybomb but we do have to be mindful of donating to Rand at the right time so the campaign can plan to budget it to win Iowa. For example, 2011 when we did a Dec. money bomb for Ron, I remember somebody from his camp saying that the money bomb was great but the money came in too late to be budgeted for proper use.

Something to keep in mind.

Yes and I'm sure that was definitely true with the Iowa Caucus coming at the beginning of January in past years. An end of year moneybomb would probably be ok this cycle since Iowa has been pushed back to February 1st.
