I will take on his 2nd point. Ron Paul is not going to get rid of fiat currency. He is going to audit the fed and repeal legal tender laws allowing competing currencies. The fiat dollar will still be around.
Also, if we did end up going to a gold standard, when the population rises and the amount of gold or silver stays the same, the value of the metals just goes up. So if someone dropped a gold coin in a sewer, the value of all gold coins would go up if this happened on a big scale. Also, at the reclamation plant the coin would still be intact, unlike paper currency gold will not be destroyed in that manner.
On what he said about the Patriot Act and NDAA.
The 4th amendment states:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
The Patriot Act goes against that by allowing broad search warrants and not stating on them what they are searching for.
On NDAA the 6th amendment is violated:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
Issues number 6,
As president he will have Veto power. Any unbalanced budget he will veto. This is huge. You need 2/3 of the house and senate to overturn this. Also, Paul's budget is only taking spending to 2006 levels, its really not that much.
