The ‘Golden Dome’ is Pure Fantasy

Well you can't bring a knife to a gun fight.

You can stop picking fights. Ammo is much cheaper that way.
If you hold a gun and I hold a gun, we can talk about the law. If you hold a knife and I hold a knife, we can talk about rules. If you come empty handed and I come empty handed, we can talk about reason. But if you have a gun, and I only have a knife, then the truth lies in your hands.

MAD is insanity, and it will destroy the world eventually if it's not replaced.
It worked well enough as a gamble when it was the only option, but better things are possible now.
I agree but we can't even come close to affording it. The debt is our biggest security threat.

I disagree. Once we can't afford nuclear deterrence you will know it.

It wont be just the fact that billionaires are buying up nuclear bunkers that's just plan B.

They want to live above ground and not have to eat canned food.

The people that run this country aren't going to hand it over to other countries for free.

At that point we have to resort to preemptive war.

Chat Knickerbot: Compute how many countries currently exist despite never once having started a preemptive nuclear war.
How many times have I had to tell you.

The only thing stopping a nuclear war currently is the US taxpayer's funded nuclear deterrent.

When Russia went to war with China and Russia began to deploy nuclear weapons President Nixon told Russia that it would be a declaration of world war 3 and that the United States would deploy their nuclear weapons.

If we lose our nuclear deterrent so does most of the world.

That would mean a New World Order and another country would seek to create their global government.

Germany is a pretty rich country but they lost the last world war.

They dont have a nuclear triad.

One of these days I'm going to find the asshole that decided what the world needed was artificial small dick energy.

I'm more worried about AI. I think AI will bring about the end of humanity. There are failsafes in place that require human interaction to launch the nukes, so we are safe, for now anyway.

Maintaining mutually assured destruction definitely isn't cheap.

Our nuclear triad is being built as we speak you know so we still have mutually assured destruction 30 years from now.

Our Sentinel ICBM program is 141 billion.

12 Columbia class nuclear submarines - $130 billion.

B-21 Raider Bomber will cost 203 billion.

Still cheaper than what Trump is proposing.

Defense isn't expensive it's cheaper than the cost of getting bombed.

One military base might have 50 billion dollars worth of assets. One city has 5 trillion dollars worth of assets.

The cost of getting bombed and halting our economy costs 10s of trillions of dollars.

With modernized equipment like AI and energy weapons.

One microwave gun can shoot down millions of drones for pennies a piece.

A megawatt laser can shoot down hundreds of ICBMs for the cost of just the energy it uses.

Perhaps 50,000 dollars worth of electricity to shoot down hundreds of nuclear weapons.

An EMP Canon can disable 30 thousand satellites for the cost of 1 sattelite.

The cost of maintaining mutually assured destruction is insane compared to missle defense.

Especially when you factor that these types of asymmetric technologies against them are being developed by China and Russia.

There are several key advantages to AI that make it worthwhile.

DARPA for instance has been flight testing unmanned fighter jets that can defeat our top pilots in a dog fight.

Those jobs are extremely taxing on the human body. The G forces that they are put through ruin their health permanently.

The Japanese have a word for dying from overwork it's called karoshi. Even more than that people who sacrifice their health for their work it's a deathless death.

While that's not a problem for most of us who don't serve in the military since only about 1% do.

We shouldn't have sacrificial pawns in our country. We shouldn't let the ones who made that sacrifice be for nothing by continuing to do it when we don't have to anymore.

The golden dome is predicted to cost over 800 billion to fully implement over time. We both know that no government project ever gets completed on budget. So figure a trillion at least.

No nation is going to risk nuking the US. We have sufficient deterrents. They all know it would be a death warrant. The only current risk is is rouge nuke or a mistake. Our current interceptor would must likely be able to stop a single missle as they would get multiple shots at it.

So again, the status quo is working and has worked since WW2. No need to spend more or change anything,

That's the cost maybe for the entire projected lifetime.

Even if that were the case and it cost 33 billion dollars a year for 30 years.

How much did we spend at war in Afghanistan to prevent just a terrorist attack?

Over 100 billion per year for 20 years.

Why do you think we liked having a military base right next to where China makes their nuclear weapons?

These are the same people who opposed the cost of the wall in spite of the costs of the invasion.

On earth burglars break into your house.

On a global scale, the US does the most burgling.

I know you think saying the truth about that amounts to hating the country, but that's because you're an idiot. Loving the country is the best reason to hate the government.
