The Force Is Strong With This One: Disney Buys Lucasfilm For $4B

Oh, my bad. I didn't think anyone would post it somewhere besides Off Topic.

Unfortunately Joss Wheadon is busy with Avengers 2 and probably Avengers 3. JJ Abrams would be good, but he's working on the new Star Trek, which will also probably have a third installment.

I'd like to think that they'll take all the criticism of the prequels into account and do better with the new trilogy, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's not like they can't push back the date. It happens all the time.

Lucas already ruined Star Wars and now he wants to ship it off to Disney to ruin it even more. Okay then.

Nice 2 very evil forces behind the curtain of these companies. I remember when Michael Eisner's made all the managers and directors take pay cuts and the very same year, Mikey gave his buddy Ovitz a $170 Million paycheck for screwing things up. No wonder it's called "The Magic Kingdom".

Lucas, another one, where he's paying managers and directors shit wages... industry is just getting worse. Another outsourcing industry moving overseas... all the while, clueless movie goers watch retreaded Unicorns Shit Rainbow Skittles out their Butts. Watch these US jobs die a quick death.

Cool. Now, how long and how many money milker films get whipped out before the oil pan blows out from under this hilarity?

Well, Eisner was forced out shortly after that. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/26/business/media/26eisner.html?_r=0

Did they go to jail or maybe mended ends by returning the money? Just another version of legalized theft and I wonder how Dennis Kozlowski, the former CEO of TYCO International feels about "the rule of law" for some and not others like Eisner and Ovitz?

So how do you get one of these 9 figure OJT jobs? I'll put a year in... just can't lose, as long as you have bought; the mayors, congressman, senators, judges, courts, etc and have them in your back pocket.

Disney has done a really good job with the Marvel universe the last couple of years. The way the press conference sounded is that they want to move star wars into that direction not the direction of their mass cartoon sequels manufacturing plant. Can't wait for episode 7! But am a little saddened that Dark Hourse comics will most likely stop making the Star Wars comics now.

I really hope they don't touch the original trilogy.

I hope they do, specifically to restore the "Han shot first" in the Cantina scene with Greedo. Hopefully they will also completely erase every moment of JarJar & that kid saying friggin' "Yippee!!!"

Glad to see Lucas go. I'd love to see him write storylines, but there really should have been more movies by this point. He should have done it in chronological order as well.

And this recent cartoon business is crap.

Right? He could have released 12-15 episodes by now!

"Another step away from what Lucas originally wanted-to be an independent film-maker devoted to art rather than popular tastes. George continues to disappoint and sell out. "

He's been saying this for the last 40 years. Have you ever seen an Admiral go back to being a just a common sailor? I don't think he can do it for that very reason. CGI doesn't go well in an indy film.

I think Star Wars fans should be actually glad Lucas has sold to Disney. Now they can make some actual films again by actual writers and directors, not graphic designers.
