The "For-Profit company" is smarter idea then blimp

Let me pose this question. Would you all feel betrayed if the LLC ran ads for a competitor? It seems to me that will be a true testament to whether one believes in free markets or not.

Personally, I would not. Every hour that blimp is on the trail it's a testament to not only the creativity of the LLC, but also the dedication of the grassroot. No matter who is on it. We the supporters created a demand. The LLC created the supply. It is a market unique to us right now, but soon demand will rise. Then it will get interesting around here.
I don't think feeling betrayed in that case necessarily means you don't believe in free markets.

My take on Elijah's stance has been that technically they can/do run ads for other customers, but that they are booked with the ron paul blimp til at least November of 2008. :)

It's intriguing to find that when things are going sour (i.e. not much money early in the process) so many people rise against it, but when the winds of change favor an idea such as this (i.e. money starts rolling in) the tune starts changing.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not bashin' anyone and I had a few doubts at first as well. I think this is truly going to help Ron Paul build his momentum for success. You all rock in my book!

i wouldn't say i was rising against it.... but i certainly had a lot of legitimate concerns. It's not i didn't support the idea of a blimp, or want the blimp in boston, i just thought that without changes, it wasn't going to happen. Originally, i had thought that we needed $350K plus by now to get the blimp to boston. I knew that wasn't happening and of course was concerned. Then they said $200K by Wednesday, which i thought was a little more reasonable, but still tough. Then they say $200K by friday. They had original salaries at $1000 per week for 7 people, they had no refund policy, etc.

so what some people might view as "attacking" i see it as lobbying for change. Myself and many others suggested to put a meter and ticker on the site, or at least the "we need $___ by ___ ... " .

now, the great thing is that Elijah listened to these concerns, he made all the changes, and now the blimp is great! So now that those changes got made, the blimp is successful.

like... they said they wanted to launch it on the 10th, so i figured that they would need $350 K within the first few weeks of Dec. which i knew was not going to happen. Once everyone figures out that we only need $200 K to get it off the ground, and that we have until friday, everyone jumped on board.

If they hadn't made all those changes within the last 5 days or so, i don't think this thing would have flown.

So all i can say is that i'm really really happy that the blimp is going to get in the air. i'm really happy with the organizers because they listened to the concerns and made all the right changes. and now it looks like this thing is going to be in the air in a few days.

I did not support the blimp but after this legal creation, media maximization plans, and all around professionalism I support it and honestly think I am going to donate to the blimp instead of the campaign. (mostly do to some personal beef b/t me and them)

Its a small company, they dont have the resources to do other ads while the blimp is running, since everyone will be involved in promoting the blimp.

I dont mind them running ads for others after the election is over. I think they know better not to run ads of our competitors until the election is over.

Yes the pandora's box is open. But we'll let the free market solve whatever comes out of it.

I hope LLC becomes a prosperous company after they are done with the election.

Good luck.

Legislative Alert!

Lets just hope we didn't open pandora's box...

Go Blimp Go!

Expect emergency "campaign finance reform" legislation -- and unprecedented cooperation between the Democrats and Republicans in Congress...

Hmmm....

On second thought, I bet the Democrats will keep it bottled up in committee 'till at least September! :D

Yeah, But first they should tackle the phone poll fraud issues.

Brilliant analysis

How many people really believe that there will be any groundswell of Thompson or Hillary supporters who want to engage Liberty Political Advertising? If they did get a Hillary blimp in the air, who would most voters think of when they saw it?

We expect our more likely market is supporters of candidates for Congress, Senate, and governorships who run on true free market platforms.

Brilliant analysis.

I've been pretty busy managing the company and haven't had much time to check the forums lately, but somebody sent me a link to this thread. Thanks for the encouragement.
