Really? When the domain registrant put out that headline 'Ron Paul goes to the UN' do you think people reading that nationwide, most of whom never read the article, thought he was using a contractually listed arbitrator between the domain owner and the licensee?

WIPO has a contract with the UN. They're a subcintractor that does work for the UN, but they are empowered by the United Nations.

And Ron Paul was not a party to the contract. He exploited the system, believing that the free market approach would be too expensive.

Again, you can think Ron shouldn't have brought the claim, that is a separate question. The 'forum' nonsense is pure smear, though. IN THIS SITUATION WIPO is only 'empowered' by a private contract. Had they not been listed as a dispute resolution forum under the contract, Ron's claim would not be filed there.

And free market says you only get the rights your contract gave to begin with, and have to live within it.

I have my own dislike of how this went, but on the 'free market' side it seems the guy over played his hand. He only had 'rights' to what the contract allowed, and Ron's trying to buy it was out of good will, not 'right'. And it seems Ron thinks his good will was abused.
