If you follow the trend of where the tech bubble in the 90's first started showing signs of fraudulent increases, it was around the 4,000 range before things began to go nuts. You can draw a line from nearly the beginning of the dow until now and you end up at about 6,000...that I think is where we should be for honest real growth of real things.

I'm guessing panics could still cause it to drop to 4,000 but I think 6,000 is a safe bet of where we need to be. We are still 1500 pts too high.

Woot!!!!!! Party in Bernanke's basement tomorrow night. BYOB (Bring your own bailout)

LOL no, it's just some profit-taking on the downslope. I bet the 'citibank good news' was orchestrated. We need a list of who the biggest profiteers of this current spike are. ;-) [any bets that we'll find the golden egg bailout bonus boys in there?]

On april 15th,the dollar is supposed to go "flush" for good.

Oh great! I havent filed my taxes yet because I know I owe. I dont even know how much I owe but I dont have any money to pay. Got laid off and barely scraping by as it is. I wonder how many other people are as screwed as I am?

The inflationary depression is ON

deflationary depression OFF. Woot, we can pump up asset prices, cause massive business consolidation, unemployment, and kill the middle class all while taking bailout money to monopolize surviving business for congressional hacks buddies. Welcome to Argentina. Last salvo when the populace starts protesting is we can take away their retirement to put into a government program that guarantees 3 percent as their dollar buying power drops 10 each year.

I predict that in 2009 there will be a law passed that attempts to prevent people from liquidating their 401ks.

DOW goes up as the dollar drops. Nothing to see here.

I already tried to liquidate the rest of my 401(k). The company said the only way I can get my money is to terminate my employment, or show a hardship such as my house being on the brink of foreclosure.

I have liquidated my 401(k) in the past, no problem, besides the steep penalties. But I am being told now I can't do it. That seems a little crooked.

My 401k got liquidated for me. After 5 years, 10,000 went kaput. Cashed out when I quit with $200. That was age 20 to 26 for me, by comparison to others, its not a lot but showed me the truth of what it does. Its only designed to separate people from their money.

My words, quote me on it, over the next two years 7500 will be called "level" by the pundits.
