THE DEFINITIVE THREAD Breaking-Santorum calls news conference for 2:00 Is he dropping?

We definitely need to keep going, but this pretty much makes the brokered convention impossible. The only way we can pull this off is if we can still get people to the polls while everyone else stays home because the media told them Romney already won it.

Damn didn't think he'd drop out so soon, thought Gingrich would go first... How many delegates are left?

Can anyone think Panic Attack you guys. Jeezz!

Most of the comments here crack up to no end. "What does it mean"? "What now"? "Is this good or bad"?.........It is what it is!

It has been anticipated and probably welcomed by the campaign.

We may not get the bulk of his delegates, but we will get a much louder stump.

There are fewer to choose from now and Dr. Paul is bringing in the big crowds and reaching for the long arrows.

I didn't say it was good, except there is a chance that Santa's folks who held out this long REALLY are more conservative than Romney, in which case they should come to Ron. Ron has growing crowds everywhere he goes. Who knows, with Santa dropping out, the media may actually notice? In which case Ron's chances for BOUND delegates from CA and TX go up, not to mention PA where Ron got 16% even in 2008, but Santa was looked at as the son of the state, having represented it, while Ron just grew up there. So, it is a mixed bag. For TONIGHT in St Charles it isn't good though, because it will completely turn upside down our alliance assumptions. All we can do is the best we can.
The problem with this line of reasoning is that it just makes assumptions based on increasingly unlikely events. The crowds at the pep rallies don't translate at the ballot boxes, I don't know why people still don't understand this. The only thing the media will notice, which they are already mentioning in EVERY article, is that the "other rans" Gingrich and Paul now have zero chance and this thing is all over. People will buy it hook line and sinker. So what you call doomsday, I call reality. I don't like it, but it is what it is.

The bottom line is Ron has to do something to make himself relevent right this minute. The grassroots can't do it for him, the media won't do it for him, he has to do it. He also has to attack Romney like he's done to others. So far he's been unwilling to do either.

I don't know, I imagine many Santorum supporters just won't show up, but ours still will.

ours need to more than ever because the party machine will suddenly be on Romney's side and we'll be fighting alone. I hope ours don't think we don't have as many to fight as we would have otherwise.

We're pulling for you tonight!

There are still two others in the race - CNN's Dana Bash reports. Ron Paul's campaign will put out a statement to that issue shortly.

the last one is social security, not values per se, but I see them as going together.

Hmmm something along the line of "family values, religious rights, Obama's record of anti Americans" have to be mentioned... the so-cons are a different animal.

Someone just reminded me of Santorum's comment about Romney being the worst candidate to run against Obama (specifically on healthcare). Hopefully his supporters keep that in mind and shun Gingrich for his questionable ethics.

Santorum did his job, just like Cain did. - Get enough support, and use your 15 minutes of spotlight to make that support anti-Paul.

Thanks for the endorsement, Michelle....we could have used it.

I feel the heat of a flickering flame.

Man gotta had it to the professional politician, Rick sure knows how to "personalize" his speeches. It truly does make a difference because Americans vote upon emotions, ones line zingers, compassion, and sympathy.

I wish Ron would personalize his speeches more so to the audiences. Yes audiences... performance and win new souls, not the same souls, those lost audiences that are looking for real hope and solutions to their personal problems created by the Fascist theives.

Where do the delegates go?

in 2008 when Romney dropped out, Ron picked up his delegates in NV (or was getting them, until the GOP turned off the lights and fled to shut down the state convention), despite the fact that Romney went to the state convention and gave a speech supporting McCain. Sometimes delegates have minds of their own, and if they want a conservative........
