The debate made me realize one thing

Watching this debate, and listening to the crowd reactions, I have determined one thing. The Republican party (generally speaking -of course there are exceptions) is completely oblivious to the current world we live in. The world has changed and left a majority of them behind.

I was pretty much embarrassed to call myself a Repub when the crowd started booing the General when he informed them he is gay. The whole "gays in the military" is a non-issue anymore. The kids that are now in the military have grown up around open homosexuality. It is nothing new to them by the time they are of age to serve the country.

It is a non issue. Military service is treated as a job and I know of no employer who cares about sexual orientation.

Yeah, the GOP party is a lost cause, if you ask me. I don't think Paul will win the GOP ticket, but I think he'll get enough votes to be seen as having done well. His careful "I don't plan on running as an independent" means that he is open to running as an independent. He really can't say "Yes" at this point.

Republicans would be embarrassed to show up at the primaries to vote for these tools. We can win this if we show up in mass.

I'm a vet and it is an issue. The military isn't "a job", you don't punch out at the end of the day, it's 24/7 and you eat, sleep, shit together.

I couldn't disagree with you more on this topic and the only reason it's being forced down our throats is to cause even greater weakness in the military and division between us.

The handling of openly gays in the military is a logistical nightmare to deal with. Something you can do without on the battle field.

I agree and I agree. The booing of the military guy really made me sad, especially considering that so many of those guys were draft dodgers who got deferments. I hope Ron Paul does well because, even if he doesn't win the nomination, the constitutional ideals of liberty, freedom and small government will be brought to the forefront when the republicans loose both houses of congress and the presidency next year.

The thing is that homosexuals aren't some sort of sexual predators. Sure there is the occasional priest or dateline episode which may present it as such, but all the ones I have met know how to control their sexual desires to times and places where it is appropriate.

lol, I live in NY where we have allot of openly gay people and I am not making those kinds of accusations. The point was in the real world it is not going to work. A couple of openly gay guys in a barraks full of straight guys sounds like something out of a comedy bit. No that would not be distracting /sarcasm
