I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. The goal is the most donations in a 24 hour period. If you offset the 24 hour period to include midnight PST you would erase the early donations from midnight this morning EST.
I would disagree but looking at the charts I think its smart. It seems way too many waited until the last minute and its freezing up the website. Anyone who isn't using the website to donate should avoid going to it. I think those who can't get into the website should donate whenever they can... and for some that might not be until after 12 eastern. Look at these charts of the sudden spike occurring right now... we simply have to keep this going.... http://paulcash.slact.net/ Notice that it has started to go back down... this is because very few can get the website to load right now... I know I cant.
From what I've heard, the FEC calculates it via the timezone the donation is coming from. So a 24 hour period would be 12 to 12 ET + 12 to 12 CT + 12 to 12 MT + 12 to 12 PT.
I think the campaign will be reporting ET 24 hour donations though.
Yes, I agree that the date should be 12:01PST, not east coast time. -- California has like 10% of the nations population. Are we really going to say they don't count?
that's what I thought on the 5th...I think the rp campaign should see whether the money coming in for the extra 3 hours is more than the first 3 hours and use whichever # is bigger. But yeah, 6 minutes left!
