The Daily Show's Jon Stewart calls out Obama on removing troops from Iraq

saw that last night
pretty good segment - especially when he matched obama's words to bush's

That part was excellent. Exact same rhetoric. How can people continue to pretend there's a difference?

Did anyone see Bill Maher's show last night? At one point he began discussing Afghanistan with someone and compared Obama's Afghanistan plan to Bush's "surge" in Iraq, and asked when we're going to stop "hitting the hive."

It's good to see that these guys are still maintaining a healthy skepticism so far when it comes to foreign policy, at least.

I can't watch Stewart any more. I tried a few days back. The very second I turned it on he was mocking the states that want to reject the stimulus money.

He's a progressive hack - Obama isn't socialist enough for him.

They believe socialism is goodness and money for everybody. I know because I use to be socialist ( but I have a excuse since I am from Europe :p ). I know now its just a scam, that wants to make the lower class dependent on goverment and with no capacity to progress, while enpovering the midle class. But socialist ideas are just so tempting... justice and fairness for everybody... until you see its a scam. You should try to convince more people, not confront them as socialist. I know its hard and tiring, but its worth it.

ha, you can hear the obamanite audience actually gasp in disbelief.....we should have been there to say "i told ya so!"

Stewart seems honest, and is only a "socialist" because that has been the best option presented to him by what he is told are the best minds thinking about the subject.

Stewart had Ron Paul on once. He seemed to like him, and once he started asking deeper questions, it seemed the Stewart was honestly interested.

Then Stewart had David Frum on. Stewart brought up Ron Paul, and Frum said "If you knew what I know about him..." After going off camera, Frum brought up the newsletters. (I emailed Frum, stating that I was thinking of supporting Paul, but didn't know "what he knew", and he sent me a link to the slanderous article).

Stewart fell for it, hook, line and sinker - and I don't think he's really considered the limited government stance since that night - not because of any resistance to the ideas, but solely because there is a stigma attached to people who subscribe to those views.

Obama's Gotcha!

The weird thing is, as intelligent as Jon Stewart is, he was stupid enough to believe Obama would actually remove all troops from Iraq as soon as possible.

Where's Keith Olbermann when you need him? Oh, wait. Never mind. He's over there kissing Obama's buttocks right now.

Nah, he's always been pretty skeptical.. he's one of those "Obama isn't that great, but at least he isn't Bush!" kinda guys..

You're right. I wouldn't confront Stewart, or his audience. I just don't watch him any more because I can't find him funny any more.

Both speech were so similar, it's scary!

It's like out nation's oval office is controlled by a an outside force. Doesn't matter who the puppet is.

The thing about Stewart is that he's more of a comedian than a political hack or pundit. I like a lot of his bits. This one wasn't as good as some of his other stuff, but I still prefer him over the typical MSM hacks like Olberman, Hannity, etc. :o

Seems like Stewart has come a long way since brown nosing Obama all during the election.

I might watch his show again.

I wouldn't bother watching Stewart. He'll be back to the same old liberal love soon enough. Whether he (or his writers) dislike Obama or not, they are still genuine Democrats at heart. Colbert is the same way, but worse. I remember the intense cheering from the crowd when he mentioned Philadelphia banning guns. It was the loudest I'd ever heard them during the short period of time I watched. They were in Philadelphia, but I doubt it'd be much different in any of the big cities. Watching either one of these guys is very difficult, knowing what goes behind many of their jokes. I'm probably taking this way too seriously, but oh well. Colbert's flashback Paul skit where Ron was right about all different events in history was spectacular though. Besides that, he has been thrown away.
