The Campaign Should Use Doug Wead Rather Than Jack Hunter as Surrogate for Live Media

I really like Jack. Like many have said it depends on the audience, but Jack answers questions more as I would answer them so I can relate to him a lot more. The accent thing doesn't bother me because he doesn't have that thick of an accent. It depends on the southern accent, but he has an intelligible southern accent and it isn't to thick. I've met people in Virginia that sound like Boomhauer from King of the Hill and some people with accents so thick I either think they are saying completely different words than what they are actually saying or just can't comprehend them.

I don't know why people are getting so hyped up on accents. Everyone has a bit of an accent in some form. I have a bit of a PA dutch accent myself.

Its not the accent that is the issue its the ability to speak articulate spontaneously and in a way that persuades people to your side. While Hunter is clearly a terrific writer, I believe Doug is a better person for the media to speak to from the campaign.

Campaign could have had Tom Woods defend Ron on any number of media outlets, would have been mastery at work.

They can't use Woods as a surrogate because he's heading up the Revolution PAC and they're not allowed to coordinate.

I think a lot of people here vastly underestimate how critical Revolution PAC is going to be. I'm not surprised they failed at raising significant funds early on and I think they made a mistake setting the expectations so high, but they will play a critical role as the campaign picks up steam. They are very wisely using their time right now to put out videos and advertising to demonstrate that they have the talent to put out great ads. By the time big money is ready to drop it on Revolution PAC, they will have a track history donors can look at to see what they're capable of doing.

I like Jack Hunter's accent. It's not merely Southern as some are suggesting - it's uniquely Jack's. So it's OK if he is interviewed. But Doug Wead needs to be more prominent on the wider-audience broadcasts/primetime stuff.

Jack Hunter has a weird sing-songy cadence to his voice that always sounds like he's reading off a teleprompter even when he's not. It bugs me. I'd rather just read him.

You know guys. Maybe Wead wasn't available for the interview and Hunter was. We need both and we are lucky to have both, in my opinion. Hunter has not done nearly as many interviews as Wead and as he does more, he will be exactly what we need in the South.

The reason Woods helped start RevPAC was that the campaign wouldn't hire him.

This is the Pink Elephant in the studio. I think Jack does a fine job in interviews. He is very articulate. His voice is unique and compelling. He is a great asset and a very fine thinker and writer. But what is up with that hair? OMG. I think Jack's hair may have cost Ron 1% in the polls.

Arthel Neville. Her dad is Art Neville of the Neville Brothers. She was rude as hell (but gets my vote for most drop dead gorgeous Fox anchor). I think Jack showed great poise by not getting confrontational with her. I noticed that Doug Wead is being super nice to every interviewer. I suspect this is rule for interviews from the official campaign. I think it sell Ron's brand better than being confrontational.

Jack Hunter is too blunt to be able to artfully avoid questions that set up false dichotomies (such as the questions his interviewer was setting up). Hunter isn't wrong, he just doesn't know how to massage the interview process to the extent necessary to allow him the time to explain his stances.
