The Book Dr. Paul wants us to Read. THE LAW.

^It was intended to be a pamphlet, ala Common Sense by Thomas Paine

He was protesting the French socialist changes going on at the time.

I wonder what Perry would have suggested if they'd asked him to recommend a book...

I've read it a number of times and gifted a few copies out over the years. Don't overlook his other writings that can be had in collections such as Essays on Political Economy; Economic Sophisms; and Economic Harmonies. Mises Institute has a very good collection of their own which includes all those mentioned above plus more entitled The Bastiat Collection.

It was awesome to hear him mention this work.

If Cain can, whats stopping Perry?

hmmm... true, maybe they dictate, and someone else writes it down as they speak. Then yet another person puts those 'thoughts" in a semi-coherent fashion.

By the way, that answer by ron paul was very good (about the book)

I didn't like his answer about the patriot Act and the bombing in Oklahoma. it sounded like he was just dodging the issues and basically not offering any ways to prevent such attacks in future. Surely something can be done that doesn't screw our privacy etc. It just sounded like ROn Paul would just let it go, let him bomb.... I don't think that answer went well with many viewers. I don't know... maybe better security in such buildings, more resistant to explosions, something... Paul did mention states taking care of this, and that's good, but he should have done more emphasis on actually answering the question directly IMHO.

I suggested it to my niece, who just started law school. She is a flaming liberal leftist, and gave me this response:

Just wondering what made you think I might like this. I neither agree with his views on God's laws nor man's laws. I find the section called, "Who shall judge" especially offensive....ouch!

Anyone notice that what Paul really said when asked the question was, "You mean, aside from the Bible?"

I first read it about 15 years ago, reread it last night actually after the mention, still good!

Amazing! I just happened to have checked The Law out from the library the other day. I haven't finished it yet--plenty of distractions--but I really like it so far.
