Australian Outback Ammunition has just announced that they will be selling .223 and .308 ammunition here in the U.S.A starting this month. They have developed a few different loadings, but their big claim is a feature they call BTI, or Ballistic Temperature Independence. The company claims that their ammo maintains a more consistent velocity over a wide range of ambient temperatures.

Practically, this means you can sight in your rifle on a hot summer day and have a very close point of impact with the same scope settings on a cold winter day six months later. Alternately, a big game hunter could sight in his rifle on a cold day in Wisconsin, then go on safari in hot, humid South Africa without having to re-zero his sights (although after a transcontinental trip, would you trust yours anyway?).

Regardless of the utility of Ballistic Temperature Independence, it is always a good thing to see more high quality, accurate brass cased ammunition on the way to our shores during this time of insatiable demand and seemingly limited supply. Send us all you can from the land down under!

What I'm curious about is will it be their company policy to sell to gvmt/mil first, then LEO and if there is any left, us mundanes?

Or did Obama sign yet another EO stating that's the law of the land so DHS will come along and buy out all shipments?

I wonder how long until those DHS shipments start coming up missing? Or at least raided?

It's a good time to enter the market and those are two good calibers to do it with.

I was looking for that guy who sold ammo from a website and donated to Ron Paul. stumbled onto this thread and had to mark it

I saw M855 for .36 cents a round the other day, just can't afford ammo right now or I would have ordered some. Don't remember where though.

From what I have seen, iT IS OVER PRICED, I think they think since there is a shortage of ammo here in America they can make it and we will buy it at an inflated price because of the shortage. There is ammo to be had you just have to look around and you will find it.

Well it's about time somebody started selling ammo in the U.S. I've been playing hell trying to get a brick of 22 long rifle.

With the ammo shortage, why haven't any new US businesses started manufacturing ammo? Are there regulations which would make it difficult for new companies to start a small manufacturing plant?

DHS and DOD probably buying up most of the production capacity; and then panic buyers soaking up the rest of the market leaving the shelves bare. Manufactures not wanting to add the expense of production lines thinking that no way in frell can these sales levels go on forever, and turning up whole production lines that will sit dark for years is bad for profits.
