The #1 BIGGEST COMPLAINT re: Ron Paul

Remind those people of Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Abraham Lincoln, just to name a few presidents with less than impressive voices. Hell, people nowadays would probably complain about Cleveland and Taft just because of their weight.

If Ron Paul's voice is whiny, you'd need to invent a new adjective to describe Hillary's.

The only issue I have really is when he uses expressions like 'guns or butter' that 90% of the population isn't familiar with. It almost sounds like he's trying to coin a term.

There's an expression I like, "bread and circuses," that is used to describe the American lifestyle of McDonalds and reality TV. While it couldn't be any more accurate, most people just don't understand the historical implication or the meaning of the expression. I think RP appeals to the high-minded, but he needs to winnow his message down a bit for the LCD.

Guns or butter is not that hard to figure out. Do I want to shoot people or be fed. Bread and circuses..well there have been enough references n their circuses on te iodiot box that most will get it if they bother to think bout it.

Best
Randy

Dear WGADGET,

Sooo, is this about Ron Paul?...or is it about us?

Try listening to the other candidates. They stand there, and say their 'going to do this, and their going to do that.' Makes me want to puke with the thought people are eating this crap up.

Rons voice is soothing to my ears.

If you can't see that, then you need to go back and re-join the flock....baaaa!

The TRUE Patriots will take it from here. I hope we can save you.

btw...you make it sound like you're just 'reporting' what you heard. I don't believe you.

I have been out sign waving with her. Go play pocket pool on another thread where it needs your output.

Thanks
Randy

You're pretty young, aren't you, Elliott? :)

I think more people have heard of "guns and butter" than you think, especially anyone over 40. You know the band "Guns and Roses?" A knockoff, I'm sure.

And "bread and circuses" refers to the ancient Romans, and how the Roman government kept the people happy and stupid by giving them free food and entertainment.

I'm pretty certain most older people get this one, too.

You have it TOTALLY wrong..I LOVE Ron Paul. But the people around me (whether I know them or not) have one complaint about Ron, which I've explained.

I know the debates are over for now, so it probably won't make much difference. But my husband says if we had Ron Paul's ideas spoken with Mitt Romney's voice, Ron would win in a major landslide.

I AM just reporting. It hurts me to hear such shallow talk out of people who should know better. I guess they will never be TRUE patriots...but I will keep working on them.

BTW, my best friend and her whole family of four WILL be voting for Ron Paul, but they still have this concern.

Older voters understand that. Younger ones don't. It's along the lines of "Blood and treasure."

I dont think RP is whiny at all. I think he is a lot like me. :) YOu can only take stupid people arguing for so long until youre like, give me a break!

If you want to convert people let Ron Paul himself do it for you by printing out one or more of his many articles and let them read what he says in print rather than his voice or having to look at his haircut. Of course he's not that tall or handsome either. He needs a few more suits.

But I can tell you this about Ron Paul. There isn't a suit large enough to contain his integrity or his substance. There isn't a head big enough to contain his intelligence or wisdom. There isn't a Christian heart out there with as much love and kindness. There are no hands out there strong enough to resist the attraction of power that he does.

Yeah that short little whiny needs a haircut guy is my hero. I consider Ron Paul the greatest American patriot since Thomas Jefferson.

I was never able to say that about a modern politician in my lifetime.

I've been looking for that in recent speeches and debates he isn't doing that very much lately. He probably got some coaching.

maybe so, i think i hear a difference
.
the complainers are probably thinking of some 1984 scenario, where a president's voice is heard all day and night .

Well said! I agree.
I admit I wince when his voice gets high-pitched...not because I care, but because all the pundits talk about who came across as "commanding", and stupid stuff like that. It's because mindless commentary is easier than informed discussions on ideas and their consequences. Why "commanding" matters so much anyway, I can't figure out. I'd rather have a guy who is patient, kind, humble, yet possessing an unflappable conviction. I love the way RP looked in the May debate -- the dark suit against the red background -- I wish that had been duplicated in subsequent debates.

I am afraid the subject of this thread is only symptomatic of the insepid, addled mind-set of today's American voter. As previous posts here have alluded to, many, if not most of our Nation's Founders would have never stood a chance in the current circus atmosphere of American politics. It matters not, that their ideas are the foundation of the United States that I grew up in. I am now saddened to watch the current slow, suicide of this once great Nation.

I love Ron Paul, but I had to tell you the feedback I'm getting from people..and it's always the same thing. I know, I wish I could say my friends and family were a little less shallow, but that's what they're all saying. Then even go on to say, "but he does have good ideas...."

I think they're only watching the debates, where Ron is pretty much cornered by people who don't like him. I usually ask these people to watch a one-on-one interview, where he's not so pressured for time and attention.

I can't believe what im hearing ....! They can't take him down with flip-flopping, telling lies or his past so now, .... they are minimizing him for his voice ???? as if his voice is going to change the status quo, stop the war, shrink government, lower taxes... come on, people! What in the god damned hell difference does the pitch or tone or strenth of his voice have to do with his intelligence and/or ability to lead this country out of disaster. And I totally agree that shallow is exactly where these sorts of charachter assassins should place themselves and in support of that argument, I offer Prof. Steven Hawking, of great Britain. (www.hawking.org.uk) Born in 1942, he is one of the world's leading astro phyicists and world acclaimed mathmeticians. At the age of 21, while attending Oxford, he was stricken with ALS and a botched tracheotomy rendered him voiceless. By age 34, he had become a quadripegic, having control only from the neck up. Since that time he has authored several books, from scientific to childrens, including the all-time best seller "A Brief History of Time". He has also authored numerous scientific papers and theory's. He is well known throughout the world and is one of the most sought after lecturers and motivational speakers. With the help of some very special friends he has developed computer software that allows him to select words from his computerized vocabulary by eye movement which are then saved to disc and vocalized through a voice synthesizer and its almost as fast as a "normal" person. He has also married, fathered three beautiful, intellectually minded daughters who love and respect their father, and in April of this year will be the first quad to experience the weightlessness of space flight in a shallow orbit spacecraft that he helped to design.

Are we so hopelessley lost as a people that we truly think that the strength and tesil of a man can be determined by the sound of his voice? I pray that we are not!

Not for me and I'm a door to door & event guy.

I bet I talk to 250 -300 people a day about Ron Paul and the number 1 reason I hear is: "He won't protect us" or "He will never defend us".

Folks are scared.

I have also heard the voice thing but from only a few, maybe not even one a day.

Even when I pull My best "Frank Luntz Move" ...and have them agreeing- the troops come home, it was wrong to go in... and we don't have the money anyway. They still say,"He won't protect Us". Weak on Defense is what I hear!

I fear the silver tongues, not the whiny voices.

Beautiful!

People are trying to justify to themselves why they have not got the courage of their convictions enough to vote for the man.
