TEXAS REPUBLICAN PARTY RULE CHANGES

LOL, everyone is so happy and they don't realize that the delegates are now picked by committee instead of by election starting at precinct conventions.

Oh, and in general there are no precinct conventions this year. It's extremely unclear what the process is for actually having a precinct election for your own precinct, but I'm working hard to make sure that my precinct has the voice they deserve in the primary process.

Yeah this is not good IMO , i was a delegate in 08 also the precinct meeting began within 30 min of the primary voting ended at your voting location.

The way i read this is now they can skip this and consolidate to a county level and they are chosen by committee or should i say (existing establishment committee) !!

If my assessment is correct then there is ZERO reason to even have a Primary election in Tx , Because now your vote doesn't mean squat PERIOD !

These rules allow any registered Republican to vote in senatorial district conventions. I think this is better as Ron Paul supporters can all come to these district conventions and vote for other Ron Paul supporters now. In Massachusetts in 2008 we elected delegates to the national convention at congressional district caucuses. We were able to get 25%+ of delegate slots in these caucuses. We can repeat this if we have lists of all Ron Paul supporters in these districts and get them all to come to these caucuses with a slate of Ron Paul delegates known prior to the caucus. We just have to start organizing this immediately to take advantage of the change in rules.

They shouldn't be able to change the rules so fast, this is bullshit.

They had to change the rules because the court forced Texas into a situation where it couldn't comply with it's own election laws. You should take the time to study the new rules and use that knowledge to your advantage at the April Conventions.

All precinct business will be done at the Senate District/County Conventions.

I was a delegate to my county convention in '08. With the rule changes it looks like the conventions are going to happen before the primary vote. Is this correct? Also what do I need to do to be a delegate this year as well?

Yes, the precinct conventions are canceled for the most part, the Senate District/County conventions will be taking place on April 14, or 21, more than a month before the Primary on May 29. All you need to be a delegate this year is to show up at the Senate District/County conventions as a member of the Republican Party (see rules for how to establish party affiliation). You still have to be elected, but those conventions are open to all members of the Republican party.

Everyone in Texas, please run as a Precinct Chairman. All you have to do is fill out one form, get it notarized, and send it to your County GOP.

Precinct Chairmen make up the County GOP. If enough of us become Precinct Chairmen, we will take over the GOP.

Here is the form (there is NO filing fee, it is FREE to file as a Precinct Chairman):

Not only is it free, you often run unopposed. Many precinct chair positions are vacant. If your precinct has a chair, contact him/her and find out if they are a RP supporter. If not, run against them.

I was appointed as a Precinct Chair since my precinct chair was vacant. I just had to call a guy and give him my information. It's not that hard to run as a precinct chair... very few people show up to the conventions and you are voted in with a majority vote... so If you have the most people with you, you'll usually railroad everything at your precinct.

Tarrent County = Ron Paul Country for those that didn't know. Geesh 40 pages.. Gah I have some reading to do. Also need to get ahold of our Precient Chairman and find out if we are still doing a precient convention.

Definitely. Arlington for Paul

Edit: Can someone help me fill out the application for Precinct Chair?

You should first check to see if your precinct chair is vacant... if it is you can ask to be appointed. No application needed.

Sorry I've been out of the loop for about a month can someone bring me up to speed on what I need to do to become a delegate in Texas now. From what I'm hear is that there isn't precinct conventions anymore, so how will I be able to get to State?
