Testers needed for National HQ mobilization

Everything good for me there. Will be looking around more and spreading the word.

Whenever there is invalid information entered in the signup page and "I pledge" is clicked, an error pops up, then the entire page is refreshed and all of the form fields are cleared. So, one must fill out the entire form again just to fix one minor error.

I work for the national office and we're getting ready to unveil a nationwide volunteer system whereby volunteers will become "precinct captains" in charge of getting out the vote in their precinct.

It's almost ready, but the data has lots of weird intricacies from one state to the next, plus every web browser has various issues...

Anyway, long story short, I'm looking for some beta testers so we can get this up and running as soon as possible. Only 100 people can join so I'm not overwhelmed with emails, but please, if you're interested, it's at:

http://voters.ronpaul2008.com

We're hoping to have the thing live by New Year's, so please only join if you're ready to spend at least an hour test-driving this thin and providing thoughtful feedback.

do i get a gun and badge?????

i was able to sign up and you found my correct precinct and the google map was in the right area, although the actual polling location was a random location in the precicnt instead of the church i vote at.

i got no email reply and my new password never came.

otherwise it looks great!

ive been searching relentlessly for a CURRENT MAP of my precicnct. its available for $3.00 at my county board of elections but i havnt gone there yet. I cant see how you could do every county, so Im thinking you need a COUNTY captain for this SOLE PURPOSE of getting a current map from teh board of elections. this is just a suggestion but they could send it to you and you load it.

that would bridge that little gap.

let me know what else i can do.

it mighyt be easier also to have each precicnt captain send you their polling location, for example i can go here in my state http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/pollingplace/ and find an actual map - then have Precicnt captain send you that LINK? i dont know how many people yall have there working on it though. if you have enough people you might just want to take control and do that part

everything fine so far, Ubuntu 7.10 running Firefox.

will I be able to keep my account and precinct once this goes live? I fully plan on actually being a precinct captain :)

I believe most people can find their precinct number on their voter registration card.

Would it be unusual for the walk list to have duplicates? My name is listed on there 2 times. However, I did change my party affiliation a couple of weeks ago. Also, for one precinct in FL, I have only tested 1 so far, the pdf walk list has no party affiliations listed.

Problem is, every state and county does it differently, so there's no way to write a program that can automatically process all of that and it would take forever to figure out manually. I have the page generate a Google search for you, run your address on the RNC database, and let you see sample address in every precinct. That should make it pretty easy for people find their own precinct.

As for having precinct captains tell us their polling locations--what for? If they're precinct captains, they're the ones who will be at the polling place in their precinct on Election Day--what's important is that they know where it is, and that their precinct's voters know where it is.

I had Florida set wrong; thanks for catching that, I fixed it.

I'm not sure how common duplicates are... how many duplicate rows are there in your precinct?

Oh good. I was wondering about the lack of party affiliation listings for FL too. Since party affiliation change deadline is Monday, I assume the ones listed anything but Rs would be a moot point.

I don't see many duplicates in my lists.

btw... the data tracking module is absolutely fantastic. It will definitely make this a LOT easier.

i agree that princinct capt should know their voting place and that they can help others find it. point taken.

ok i got set up with wrong precinct from the original dropdown, and i cant see how to get back to change it to the corrcect precinct.

Holy cow. I guess we can stop our own efforts to create something like this locally. Do you need dev help? We have multiple people working on this, including one who has a working google map data mashup generator for precinct maps to voters.
