Ted Cruz unloads on Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul in new book

AuH20 --- letz spell out a hypothetical scenario. Its day 5 of the next RNC and either Donald Trump, Rand Paul or Ted Cruz has roughly
800 to 1000 loyally pledged convention delegates and wants to go the full distance. If its THAH DONALD, Senator McConnell would hold back
as a kingmaker because the guy's hair looks too Democrat. If its TED CRUZ he holds back because the winny book is going to be a recent
memory. Inside these scenarios, i see him more likely to garnering up a level of support behind RAND PAUL! I am of course aware that long
ago Senator Mitch had promiced old JIM BUNNING's senate seat to youthful, young Trey Grayson, who might have done rather well against
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?244947-quot-Toady-is-the-primary!-quot Jack Conway in the fall of 2010. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showth...aving-Harvard-and-Hopes-to-Return-to-Kentucky

Mitch wants an establishment hack like Rubio or Bush to carry the nomination. It's good for business and his lobbyist friends. I think people here are misjudging Mitch and Rand's relationship. Rand could go down in flames and it wouldn't bother Mitch one bit.

Rubio might be easier to sell to Democrats and true independents than JEB, maybe he has not PO'ed Mitch McConnell.
I am thinking it thru again as a scenario. Like if Majority Leader Mitch is pulling what i think he's pulling, he might just
let GOP POTUS CONTENDER RAND PAUL loose by ten percentage points in the fall of 2016 especially if it hammers
home to us Libertarians that GOLDWATER=LOSE/LOSE but REAGAN = WIN/LOSE or WIN/WIN if Hillary Clinton is the
other contender by September/October 2016. He has his "young turks" he's trying to groom. All the running or potential
Democrats are OLDER than our sitting POTUS. This has to say something about long term leadership and viable ideas.

Rubio/Kasich is the ideal ticket for the establishment.

Not really

Like are you sensing since he's Old School he expects something in return if he hands to Rand Paul all of Gentleman Mitt's Party Apparatus?

Mitch = Old School almost classic Dixicrat even if very tolerant and less bigoted.

Marco Rubio is political opportunist of the first order or is only JEB's stalking horse.

or maybe are you saying that Rubio or JEB heading a 2016 GOP ticket
is like askin' all the nations voters to vote for a big rotton goose egg?

No, the idea that Rubio (or most GOP canidates) can appeal to both democrats and indepents. I think most voters whould recongize that he has the personality has out-of touch high school principal.

I'm saying that Ron Paul Inc. fucked up yet again, and it's hurting Rand's campaign.

I don't think "Ron Paul inc " has anything to do with the fact that Rand Paul is being politically friendly with the other republican senator in his home state. Unless you are blaming "Ron Paul inc" for getting Rand elected.

From the looks of things Rand has been making all the decisions regarding his campaign. Most of those decisions seem to be sound, and Jesse Benton has not been in the picture. Rand is making a concentrated effort to do things differently than Ron Paul did, and it seems to be paying off.

How has the alliance with Mitch McConnell paid off? Or are you going to keep pussyfooting around the issue?

But hey, maybe you're right. Rand might be in charge of everything, and he might be the one blowing it big time.

How has it paid off? Rand is running for both President and Senate re-election, isn't he?

Remember how much promise he had? Then he got mired in the Mordor Swamp with McConnell.

Thomas Massie had a primary challenge lined up from a well funded opponent who was probably 50/50 to win. Massie has almost no money in the bank. I have no idea how much Rand and Massie's endorsement of McConnell helped but I am guessing it didn't hurt in making the problem go away.

Likewise with Amash The Chamber endorsed his opponent. The Chamber spent $0 in that race to take Amash out. Amash won 57-43. Had they decided to spend a few million, that race could have easily been lost. I wouldn't rule out Rand's relationship with McConnell or his cutting ads for the Chamber as a reason they let Amash off the hook.

Rand working with McConnell has almost certainly been the single best decision Rand made. How do you think he got on the Foreign Relations Committee? How do you think he got his Hemp Bill attached to the Farm Bill that passed? Why do you think Kentucky switched to a Caucus?

And BTW, Rand really owed it to McConnell to support him. McConnell was the only establishment politician that I know of to back the Tea Party winner. McConnell brought in his team to help Rand and brought in people like Jeb Bush to help fundraise for Rand. Castle didn't endorse Christine O'Donnell in Delaware. Bennett didn't endorse Mike Lee (but that was a red state so it didn't matter.) Richard Lugar didn't endorse Mourdock in Indiana and he lost. McConnell went to bat for Rand.

Even if your conjecture is true (which I highly doubt), I still don't think it's enough to offset the principled support he squandered by getting into bed with a snake like McConnell.

IMO this isn't even worth commenting on. If that's the worst attack Cruz has for Rand in this primary, I'll be very happy. In any case, Cruz is at 4% support and I don't see that improving much, no matter how much money he's raising. He's as popular as Rand with the establishment, with zero support among independents and Dems.
