The issue is not his actual height... It is his stage "aura". Cruz and Rubio seem much taller because they are more self-assured... Rand does not feel comfortable and it comes off badly.

Note Rand is standing next to Patacki (who is a monster). Compared to Cruz, Rubio, etc. he is of similar height, but still the smallest dude up there and it matters subconsciously. Even I was like, "Holy fuck is he short... He's done".
