Is Trump aware of the consequences of his attacks on one of the leading Christian Zionists in Congress? If this Trump pushed controversy dragged on, there could be irreparable damage to not only political fortunes of Ted Cruz but also already weakened zionism movement in the US.
Pastor Rafael Cruz is also a beloved figure in Tea-Party / evangelical community.

Cruz, trolled by Trump, releases his mother's birth certificate

In another attempt to quash Trump-fueled speculation that he is not eligible for the presidency based on his Canadian birth, Ted Cruz's campaign released his mother's birth certificate to Breitbart News on Friday, showing that Eleanor Darragh was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Cruz citizenship flap harkens to 2011, when Trump credited himself with getting President Barack Obama to produce his long-form birth certificate to prove he was born in the U.S. (Trump has suggested more recently that he still harbors doubts.)

A year later, Cruz's father Rafael, who was born in Cuba, waded into the discourse over where Obama was born by remarking that the president should "go back to Kenya."

Even if Obama were born in Kenya, however, he would be eligible for the presidency under the same legal logic as Cruz: He would have been born to an American mother abroad, and therefore a "natural born citizen" of the United States from Day One.

Going by this, 64% of GOP could soon create big pain for Cruz and Trump will be responsible.

Again, I'm struggling to figure out who I detest more, Christian Zionists or Trump's scum-bag politics and army of brainless followers. I wouldn't lose any sleep if Trump turns out to be the one that destroys the Christian Zionist movement and all the dual covenant nonsense that goes with it, but I would really sleep better at night if Trump destroyed himself as well in the process.

New poll shows that Donald Trump's attack on Ted Cruz might be effective

The flap over presidential candidate and Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) Canadian birth could prove significant in the nation's first-voting state, according to a new survey from the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling.
The poll, which was shared with Business Insider ahead of its release Tuesday, found a tight Republican race in Iowa, which will hold the nation's first caucuses early next month. Real-estate magnate Donald Trump held a 28% to 26% lead over Cruz.

Trump has shone a light on Cruz's Canadian birth in recent days, claiming that Cruz would have a "problem" if he were to become the Republican nominee. Most legal experts believe Cruz's American mother is enough to qualify him for the presidency as a "natural-born citizen," but courts have never ruled on the issue.
The new survey found that only 46% of likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers realize that Cruz was born outside the US. (More Iowa Republicans believe Cruz was born in the US than President Barack Obama.)

Among the latter group of caucus-goers, Trump crushes Cruz by a 40% to 14% margin.
"Our poll findings show the Birther Issue could actually cost Cruz Iowa," Tom Jensen, Public Policy Polling's director, told Business Insider in an email.

If significant numbers of Evangelicals start dumping Cruz, where do they go?

...I find it hard to believe that they go for Trump (non-Evangelical, barely Christian, long history [and present] of nasty, unethical behavior).

Santorum, Huck, or Rand?

Ben Carson perhaps, he has better Evangie cred than Santorum & Huck and just as crazy as them.

To a certain extent, there is some overlap between Trump and the kook fringe that puts Israel first (even if it means putting Israel above the Christian Religion, which is essentially what Christian Zionism is). Nevertheless, I don't think Trump holds the majority on this group, particular when compared to Cruz and Carson. In fact, Rubio probably has a fair share of the "Evangelical" vote as well, if only because these people aren't too bright and they tend to confuse Papist agitators with their own kind, as was the case when they all fell over themselves to back Santorum in 2012.

Frankly, I think Trump's biggest base of support is with lukewarm mainline Protestants and Roman Catholics. This is why he polls so much better in New Hampshire versus Iowa.

Good! Rot in hell you damned heretics!

As an anti-hell humanist, so no comment.

People are waking up to the poison game of the CONZ

I'm afraid they will go to Bush. I wish Trump had held off on this crap until Bush dropped out of the race.

Donald Trump gloats after lawyer files ‘birther’ suit questioning Ted Cruz’s presidential eligibility: ‘I told you so’

Saturday, January 16, 2016, 9:12 AM
A Texas lawyer has filed a complaint questioning Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz's eligibility.

A Texas lawyer has filed the first lawsuit challenging Canada-born presidential hopeful Ted Cruz’s eligibility — and the senator’s archrival Donald Trump is reveling in the “birther” moment.
“Ted Cruz was born in Canada and was a Canadian citizen until 15 months ago. Lawsuits have just been filed with more to follow. I told you so,” the bombastic billionaire tweeted early Saturday.
Trump gleefully followed up with a second attack alluding to new accusations that Cruz failed to disclose nearly $1 million in loans during his Senate campaign.

Not a fan of Carson but some of the claims behind his sleep-scandal seem unconfirmed:

Was Ben Carson Falling Asleep During The GOP Debate?

When Carson was asked a question later about airstrikes against ISIS, it appeared he was actually falling asleep. The moderators asked Carson a question about the airstrikes over the past 16 months, centered around South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham's criticism of the airstrikes' efficacy. Carson replied, "Who's in their 16th month?" confusedly before answering the question. He went on to say, "Don't put people in there if you're not gonna bomb," a phrase that makes literally no sense.
