What could possibly go wrong?

President Trump wants a new deal with Iran to replace the nuclear agreement he pulled out of, and he’s turning to one of his most hawkish confidants to help do it.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is working in close coordination with senior Trump administration officials who focus on Middle East policy to find an alternative to the Obama administration’s Iran deal, four people with knowledge of the efforts tell The Daily Beast. Part of that effort includes fielding ideas from outside actors, including foreign officials, two of those sources said.

Graham’s developing role in the Trump administration’s Iran strategy comes as the State Department, Department of Defense, and other government agencies try to manage the delicate relationship between Washington and Tehran.

...

It is unclear how far along the team is in crafting a proposal, but Graham did travel to Israel earlier this month to meet with officials about the situation with Iran.

Does that mean that the on again off again is Rand Paul going to be a negotiator is off again? The flip- flopper in chief at it again?

I'm no fan of Graham, but he has changed a lot since his boyfriend died.

Or he is sending in a "good cop/bad cop" team.

IF we can even believe this anonymous report.

Imposed new sanctions and now this? He must be talking to Rand again

Too many people are trying to force Trump into their own box of thinking, like testing him by libertarian standards. That is a big mistake and will only drive you crazy.

If you can understand Trump's MO, you are essentially able to predict what he might do and his reasoning behind it.

Its pretty clear Trump knows Rand and Lindsey are on the opposite ends of this debate and is giving them both the chance to come up with competitive options that he can choose from.

I test him with the same standards I test any president. My worry is that he is getting a lot of advise from neocon(add Ms. Graham to the list). But I hope you prove me wrong and he is actually in pursuit of a peaceful result

Zarif said that he was not interested in a meaningless photo op. It seems like Rand wasn't able to assure the foreign minister that Trump was interested in anything but a photo op just like the one he had with Kim Jun Un

That sounds about right.

As opposed to what?

Being "actually in pursuit of a violent result" ???

Setting up a meeting in bad faith. Lemme put it this way, think of a rapist trying to take your daughter, mom, sister, wife etc. He actually doesn't want any violence as long as you let him have what he wants. He technically wants a peaceful result just as long as he doesn't face any resistance. I see Trump as the rapist trying to take what doesn't belong to him.
