Tampa Convention Hurricane Watch

The models have been real wishy washy on this system, so I wouldn't worry yet. Some have kept this an open wave, others have put it out to sea and some have moved as far W as Texas. It is possible it could happen though, so be prepared:

For Further discussion on this, visit the above link it is a good weather forum. I read it everyday :D

Yes, Storm2k is very good!

Good Morning all, seems 09L has some surprises in store. Hopefully land interaction will keep it weak, if it gets near tampa.

I have updated post #2 and #3 with more information. My guess is that this is going to swing north between now and then. We are still not clear, and if I were on the east coast I'd be very nervous, but my fears are calming a bit now.

It's not likely to come anywhere near Tampa before or during the convention.
Mother Nature is the least of your concerns.

That would be a good bet. i lived in the Keys for 16 years,, and tracked a lot of storms.
There are always the Chicken Littles that go into full panic mode when a storm is 2000 miles away.

If anything you might get a edge ,, or just some feeder bands.. Pack some rain gear just in case.
Don't worry,, Have Fun.

If this model defeats the long odds against it and is somehow right, organizers say they’re ready for the possibility of a hurricane Isaac during the convention according to a report from ABC News:

The Republican National Convention, Secret Service and federal, state and local authorities have been planning for a “multitude” of hurricane scenarios for “well over a year,” said Bryan Koon, Florida’s emergency management director. RNC spokesman James Davis would not give details of those plans, saying only that they are “focused completely on having a great convention.”

Right from the Gov't news (ABC) mouth. They will hunker down eh?

timing seems about right. Big night of convention is wed/thurs right? Florida isnt in the cone yet. Check the model tomorrow though...

One thing with the track above - missing puerto rico and Haiti will really supercharge the system. A hard turn over cuba makes florida a nice target. A long path over cuba tames these systems down though.

Blah. Even if this doesn't pose a direct threat on Tampa, SE Florida could still get brushed. Might not bother driving out to the rally on Sunday if the roads will be filled with evacuees. Still have plenty of time to watch this and do my hurricane preps (which were supposed to be done on June 1st…oops :p).

Also updated the OP with the 11 am discussion, and will continue to update with the latest info as long as it poses a threat to the convention.

LOL you guys are funny

the RNC will most likely postpone the convention if this storm hits, does Maine Caucus ring any bells?

The Establishment doesnt like even the smallest of showers
