Tampa city ordinance declaring the Constitution void.

Delegates, family of delegates and visitors to Tampa are encouraged to very carefully read the new ordinance in order to protect yourselves from revenue-generating police. During the convention, it is a crime to possess tape, light bulbs, any container containing any liquid, solid or gas, a piece of wood, a jack handle in your trunk, any sharp object and many other items considered otherwise normal. Also, should your group assemble into a unit larger than 50 people and you do not have the required permit, you are committing a crime. The police can determine on the spot if you are guilty and the prosecuter will sort out your intent at a later date. The penalties for violating any of the items under this ordinance are punishable with a fine of $500 and/or 60 days in jail. My guess is the City of Tampa wants your $500 more than they want to put you in jail. The lady I spoke to asked if I had ever heard of 9/11 and all these measures are completely justified and necessary, in order to keep us safe.

I was told by a cop once that they can always find an reason to arrest anyone.

I suspect they will find many reasons in Tampa

I plan on wearing shorts, tennis shoes, a snug T-shirt; making it fairly obvious that I am not concealing any form of weaponry.

I will bring a handkerchief in case gas is deployed, my cell for video recording, and a paper sign (no wood). I want to be sure that there is no "reason" to view me as an immeadiate physical threat.

If we use some common sense and remain civil, they will have a much more difficult time defending any violent actions against us.

I wonder if police will carry a trunk full of deodorant spray to plant on interesting subjects?

Who knows, maybe the security will be so outrageous, it will remind people (like some of the other delegates) why we want to get rid of the TSA and the general direction we are headed in. Might help with "flipping" some delegates who are still on the fence when it comes to Ron.

my cell for video recording

Good plan to stay safe, but unfortunately that will probably be target #1.

Everyone there to document the brutality, keep it as stealth as possible lest you become a victim yourself (unless that is your goal).

Use a video streaming service like qik.com so if they do get your phone, they can't erase video that's on another server

Those planning on going and bringing devices to record please keep this in mind:
All parties must consent to the recording or the disclosure of the contents of any wire, oral or electronic communication in Florida. Recording, disclosing, or endeavoring to disclose without the consent of all parties is a felony, unless the interception is a first offense committed without any illegal purpose, and not for commercial gain. Fla. Stat. ch. 934.03. These first offenses and the interception of cellular frequencies are misdemeanors. State v. News-Press Pub. Co., 338 So. 2d 1313 (1976).
As seen in IL the police use this as a blanket law and can/will arrest you for recording them. In pretty much every case I've ever seen from this though the judge always dismisses it because it is your constitutional right, but that still doesn't stop them from ruining your day.

On the other hand.
Anyone [in Florida] whose communications have been illegally intercepted may recover actual damages or $100 for each day of violation or $1,000, whichever is greater, along with punitive damages, attorney fees and litigation costs. Fla. Stat. ch. 934.10.

Just good information to be aware of going in there. I am not a delegate but I will see you all in Tampa! :)

This is a great idea. Perhaps someone should put together a how-to on streaming/recording video for the people who are going.

You underestimate the power of the dark side. Good thing is to enroll in Chinese language courses since we are quickly merging with China's system. Ours will be worse. English won't help you since HSD speaks a language common citizens do not understand. Learning North Korean would be good too. We will surpass them soon.

My congressman in my district is running unopposed. And we spend billions promoting democracy with a good measure of spilled blood too.

Putin is giving any protester a fine they will remember for the rest of their lives. I bet a similar treatment will be coming soon to your neighborhood.

Good idea, but I would also expect the networks to be pretty bottlenecked... Ever try watching a stream from a concert with thousands of people? I haven't in a couple years, maybe the bandwidth is there now, but I wouldn't rely on it for evidence in court...

In Florida that applies to reasonable personal privacy which is not typically granted on public property... as in our sidewalks, public roadways, parks, etc. 'They' may claim otherwise, of course.

Didn't I read on here about a law group that was offering their services to us, or was that another forum?

It looks like this application http://qik.com/ will allow you to record from a device and send the stream over the cellular network to a PC where it can be streamed by users and/or recorded. This way if in fact your recording device is taken or damaged, the records should still remain on your computer.

I say walk tall and carry a huge stick! just a thought, what happens when 100,000 people have a big stick what will they do? and I am in no way saying we should use these sticks I just dont think they will arrest that many people for that reason.

A PAPER SIGN??? What about paper cuts you facist!!!
