One of my men snapped this pic. We tried our best to protect the tankers but they caught us by surprise

Local residents watch the burning NATO supply oil tankers following an attack by gunmen on the main highway at Kolpur village, 25 kilometres (15 miles) south of Quetta, the capital of restive Baluchistan province on August 22, 2011. Gunmen on motorbikes in southwestern Pakistan on August 22 set ablaze at least 19 oil tankers carrying fuel for US-led NATO forces in neighbouring Afghanistan, officials said. who are the people in the foreground?
did the attackers let the drivers out of the cabs before torching the trucks?

These attacks happen all the time. The latest was two or three days ago.
The Pentagon shrugs them off. Even when 100 tankers were destroyed in 9 days in October 2010, the Pentagon said it was insignificant. I'm guessing each tanker holds about 4000 gallons of refined fuel. That would be $16,000 a truck of fuel lost, or $1,600,000 in fuel, in US retail pricing. Reality is, it costs over $25 a gallon to get a gallon of gasoline into Afghanistan, so it was more like $10,000,000 worth of fuel destroyed in 9 days.

However, with cost-plus contracting, defense contractors just see that as $500,000 profit.

You left out Warlord's 15%. Although as you can see the guarantee is limited.

If Obama puppet masters were charging US tax payers $400/gallon for gas in Afghanistan before, will neocon master profiteers bump up rate to $500 per gallon now?

Real cost of gas at Afghan bases: $400/gal. - World Watch - CBS News

Dec 6, 2011 – Real cost of gas at Afghan bases: $400/gal. ... such deliveries are spiking the ultimate price of a gallon of fuel to as much as $400 per gallon.

Ahh, yes, the $25 a gallon price was to ship fuel from Kuwait into Iraq. I had read the price in afghanistan was higher, but forgot how high.
