If we truly intend to win this election we will need to recruit a lot more people. By my estimation there are roughly 4 million current Ron Paul supporters of which several thousand visit this forum.
To catch Mitt Romney and Rick Perry in the polls we will need to double our number of supporters. While recruiting 4 million people might seem like a daunting challenge what if we each only had to convert 1?
To that end I propose the "Ron Paul Challenge"

Each week each one of us will endeavor to complete one of these three goals. These must be done in real life.

1) Convert one person who doesn't know anything about Ron Paul into a Ron Paul "leaner". (Someone who likes Ron Paul but wont vote for him because of 'x')

2) Convert one Ron Paul "leaner" into a Ron Paul supporter.

3) Convince one other Ron Paul supporter to start taking the Ron Paul challenge.

This thread is for tracking conversions, I will maintain a leader board of who has the most conversions.

Prize for the person with most conversions: You will have Ron Paul as your next president of the United States! (P.S. this prize is sharable)

FAQ:
Q: Why only one per week?
A: I've found it takes time to convince someone to believe in Ron Paul, in requires explaining his positions, and answering questions about his positions some of which a new listener may never had considered before. Furthermore this makes the task very doable. People without a lot of time (i.e. everyone) may actually be able to keep up with this pace.

Q: Will this really help?
A: It depends how many of us start doing it and how many (3)s are done early. If we start with a few thousand people on this forum, and are able to do the ^ at a rate of one per week, the nation will be converted within a matter of months.

Q: What happens when I can't find any non-RP supporters who don't know of him and no RP supporters who aren't doing the challenge.
A: I've got plains for that eventuality, tell me when it happens!

I converted a co-worker yesterday. Gave her a CD copy of For Liberty. After she watched it she said that she agreed with alot of what he said, but didn't understand some of it. She said she would vote for him.

I really like this idea. (I thought this was going to be about biking 20 miles in the Texas heat)

I just ordered a lot more slim jims so heopfully, I'll be able to assist soon.

Brilliant idea. And I completed #2 two days ago. In another week, I'll have completed #3; I'm certain of it. And today I completed #1.

We can do this if we all get on board with the Ron Paul Challenge! Just as 100 pennies equal a dollar; we need to relish the small victories, because they add up to a big win!

As of today: (9-16-11)

Completed #1 (11x)
Completed #2 (11x)
Completed #3 (4x)

Will edit this post to suit updates.

Updated to here.

I'm thinking of adding achievements as well for reaching certain totals and such any thoughts?

Just don't push someone too hard, give them the material and let Ron Paul do the work. Then let them come to you maybe mention it. If you push it they will get turned off with the idea, even if they did approve of some of his ideas.

Example is my Girlfriend, she is voting for Ron Paul, but refuses to do any research her self. She says if he doesn't win the Nomination she will vote for Obama, which makes me very sad. She is of the mind of vote for the lesser of two evils. I'm slowly making her understand thats WHY we have gotten where our Nation is today, Apathy..

I convinced a socialist-democrat to vote for Ron Paul at least for the primaries simply because Ron Paul is anti-war and he introduced the legalize marijuana legislation in the house.

This is generally an excellent way to get democrats on Ron Pauls side.

You need to remind them to switch registration to the Republican party just to vote for Ron Paul, and they can always switch back and vote for Obama in the generals.

I usually go with the "You might as well support the best Republican candidate in the primaries since Obama will get the nomination regardless" quip.

I've convinced my mother and father from knowing nothing about RP to pledging to vote for him. Is that 2 points for #1 and #2?
Told my best friend all about RP, he said he'll definitely vote for him.
Converted my grandmother into a RP "leaner"... but I WILL make her a RP voter!

So far I'm 4-3-0

I've just about got a friend to the supporter stage, passed the learning stage a while ago and knows a lot about RP now. My mother is listening and willing to learn. Next I need to work on my sister and brother in law who were sign carrying Obama supporters who seem disillusioned that the change never came. I think the anti-war angle will work well there.

I got another one!!!

Last night, I had a few friends over to chat around the fire. One of my friends is a hardcore conservative and he knows I'm pretty libertarian. We've debated in the past and agree on most things in principle, but when it comes down to it, he often thinks the Republicans way of getting to point B is more reasonable - whatever.

But last night, I asked him who he liked in the primary. He said he wasn't sure but that he liked Santorum. I told him I was supporting Paul and changed to an "R" just so I could vote for him in the primary. He actually said that he would have no problem voting for Paul in the general if he got the nomination. He didn't think Santorum had a chance anyway. We started getting into foreign policy and the costs of government and he said, "I've watched all the debates and that's one thing I like about Paul. Just bring 'em all home and let those other countries figure it out on their own."

I was feeling like I had him. I said, "Yeah, imagine what it must take for a candidate to stand up in front of a conservative crowd and tell them he wants to stop all the wars. Paul's got to be the only candidate that will tell you exactly where he stand even if he knows it will probably lose him votes. The rest of them just tell you what they think you want to hear!"

He agreed, and then he said, "You know what? I think Paul's probably the best one in the race. I can see myself supporting him." I told him to start looking at the youtube clips of Paul and see if he wasn't even more impressed. (I also told him to google 'Santorum' :)) I fully expect him to be a supporter the next time I see him.

What is really nice is that he's got an influential personality and he talks politics a lot. I bet he can turn a couple more people onto Paul before the voting gets started. I feel like last night was well spent.

Anyone else get one this week?

Business cards might be useful. They could have bullet points of his key positions and links to the best web pages/videos for learning more...

I've been spreading the word on all the newspaper comment sections I can find, but have no way of knowing if they are having any effect...

I have more slim jims on the way, so hopefully that'll help. I think I got this guy without them, though.

I think we pretty much fill up all the comments sections of nearly every article. That's definitely needed, but don't forget about talking to your friends face to face. You probably have a bigger influence on them than you even realize.

This is a great idea, but I think we need to place as much emphasis if not more on getting people to vote at the appropriate time as we do on converting them. I suspect we have to convert three or four people for every one that will actually follow through with registering Republican and getting out to vote in the primary.

I suggest we consider the idea of forming some sort of "voting pools," perhaps combined with this idea. The general idea is you would get people to form into groups and everyone in the group makes sure everyone else else in the group actually registers and votes. Sort of voluntary peer pressure. Maybe then the groups could in turn be all linked together in some larger network with each group leader reporting in to a central master group on his individual sub-group's status, using some social site like Facebook or something to keep track of it all.

I'm just sort of thinking out loud. I don't have a detailed plan worked out or anything, just an idea. I was going to make a separate post about it but decided to mention it here and see if anyone had any thoughts on the idea.

I've been doing this shit for three years I don't know anymore people that don't like Ron Paul
