I disagree. The campaign is running with a motto of Peace and Prosperity which is the answer to "why" they should support Ron Paul. I have noticed in my interactions that if you sell the why first, the defenses come down and you can have a real debate. If we get sucked into the issues first it is very difficult to change people's minds.

Bruce Fein was paraphrasing John Quincy Adams in a recent interview and I think speaks to the heart of the issue the campaign is trying to address. Here's the actual JA quote:

I agree that Paul embodies this notion of selling from the why that is spoken of in the TED talk. That's why most of us are here; that's why we're near the tipping point (or already tipping). Paul has done this from the start. Based on the change of tone I saw in the NH speech, I think he can manage the shift into mainstream.

That's an awesome Adam's quote. I keep thinking that if Paul can cast his foreign policy in terms of bringing America's most powerful weapons to the frontlines -- our ideals and long history of contending for liberty, our devotion to individual freedom and rule of law -- he can flip the hesitant on this issue. We can flip and decide that the fight is too important to rely on bombs and drones. Flip and decide, once again, that our power lies in our ideas. Flip. And all of a sudden it's cowardly to toss bombs because it means we no longer believe in the power of our ideas ourselves.

It means we gave up, not just on our own ideals about the power of liberty, but we gave up believing those truths were self evident -- to people everywhere.
