First piece of secondary debate analysis I have found, and apparently they think Ron Paul don't stand out. I am about to leave a comment, a positive comment saying that I think he won.

I'm surprised that Juan Williams said that he thinks Ron Paul can't win even though he said that "We are in the age of Ron Paul." ARG!!!! They must have been threatening to fire him if he kept defending Ron.

He didn't stand out because he got relatively little face time on camera. "Standing out" is largely a function of how much face time you get on camera. I thought Paul did great answering the gotcha questions thrown his way.

I'm sure this has been brought up but the site is now running a poll:

Well he didn't stand out because he only got around 7 mins of talking time. what do you expect?

where is Juan Williams in that article?

Let's face it: being nice and respectful isn't going to win this election, not when the media is determined to make it a Perry/Romney race. So, what do you do? Speak up (out of turn), voice your two cents on issues that matter. Do not allow the debate moderators to skip you on the jobs/economy questions! Seize the day!

+1 A leader is assertive and stands out. Don't let the moderaters walk over you.

Of course Ron Paul didn't stand out. You can't stand out when you have so little time to answer questions.

Yep, and for some reason the analysts blame him for not standing out. It is not his fault he was virtually ignored, and didn't even get any rebuttal or followup.

He didn't get attacked either. Perry and Romeny were practically killing each other up there and Ron will continue to benefit from their nasty politics and slowly ascend into second place replacing Perry.

They just don't know which angle to come at Ron from: to pummel him with curveballs and hope he will shoot himself in the foot or ignore him completely and let him fade into obscurity? Well they tried both and neither is working.

Ditto.

I'm as ardent of a Paul supporter as you will find, but let's face it, Paul needs a massive change in strategy at these debates. His message is spot on but he badly needs debate coaching, he needs to stand out, we can't afford to loose over this!!! There are millions of republican voters who actually decide on trivial, superficial things like appearance and style! We can't change that right now, we have to adapt to it, without changing the message.

His answers were fine last night except for the last question (on VP pick). But he didn't stand out enough, he didn't get enough questions, he didn't insert himself like Bachmann, Huntsman, (and others?).

That was one good thing that happened last night, for sure!

If he had asserted himself and wanted to jump in on a question (as Bachmann and some of the other candidates did), then the narrative would have been, "Ron Paul frustrated, begs for more time." or whatever.

But he did miss an opportunity for a rebuttal when Santorum mentioned his name on a foreign policy answer.

Actually, the whole "debate" format (really just a Q&A session in a group setting) where they get extra time is only meant to allow the top two or three to keep attacking each other, mention each others' names, and hog the air time. It's a game created by the media, and Romney and Perry know how to play it.

This definitely was a Q&A session, eventually they are going to have to cut some people out. (Instead of adding more like GJ)

Meh. It was one of Ron's best debate appearances. You have to do a balancing act with criticizing the media about time. He COULD have interjected at some point when a round was almost up and they missed him, but he doesn't want to come off like a whiner who worries about being relevant. Instead, he came off proud and calm and stately. They don't even have any fodder on anything he said that could be spun as "crazy"! That's awesome!

I was a bit frustrated. I was watching the stream via YouTube, and the Google analysis showed that Ron Paul's name came up the most in regards to foreign policy questions. I was excited for the next segment, anticipating a question for Paul about foreign policy, yet they didn't ask. They didn't ask the only candidate who served in the armed forces about foreign policy! And they didn't ask the medical doctor about health care (just some lame attempt to catch him off guard about abortion).

I'm not a fan of people like Santorum (I despise him, actually), but wow, he didn't get to speak until about 25 minutes in. I mean, there's other people running besides Rerry and Pomney (misspelling on purpose), but you wouldn't know it.

And I disagree with K466 about the last question in regards to a Vice Presidential pick. Ron Paul pointed out that he is polling third (although you wouldn't have known it from the moderators), and if he breaks into the top two, then he can comment on a question like that.

Keep plugging away Paul, we will vote for you until the very end.
