Supreme Court Justice Scalia dies on hunting trip

Obama will surely appoint someone worse. Ugh. Not that Scalia was much good.

There would be no reason for the Republicans to confirm someone before the next President is sworn in. A test of how treasonous the RINO's in the US Senate really are for sure, but I don't think they'd be able to get away with it even if they wanted to. McCain and Burr are going to have to swear in blood they won't even consider a nomination just to survive their own primaries. Others are going to have to worry about re-election in the fall.
 
Will Obama even be able to get an appointee through before next January? What's the earliest and latest one could be appointed?

Scalia at least claims to be a strict originalist. He's a Reagan appointee, and certainly leans right. Better than most on the court even with his obvious issues.

As much as I feel bad for the loss of a man's life, there are bigger issues at play here. This is a disaster. Obama will appoint a radical progressive. The Court will now be majority wingnut progressive. This will be a serious problem.
 
I doubt Obama has a chance to appoint anyone with this Republican congress.

RIP Scalia, your snark will be missed.
 
This will draw out a lot of voters on both sides. It will probably make for a very bitter campaign with lots of mudslinging. I may finally cancel my fedbook account just to avoid seeing the stupid political memes.
 
fuck.. hope the senate holds up any nomination until perhaps we have a republican.. not that I like the current repubs but they are more likely to nominate someone who isnt as bad as obama's nominees

He will move heaven and earth to make it happen, and the idiot RINO republicans in the Senate will probably let it through. The public at large will be thoroughly batshit outraged if the Senate Republicans try to stall.

I'm not one to underestimate the traitorous idiocy of RINOs, but the public at large should be told to go to hell if they think we need another Obama appointee. This whole "will of the people" thing is actually a big part of this country's problem, as it has infected the judiciary, which is the one branch of government where public sentiment should be barred at the door.

Everyone on tv is saying this is an unprecedented situation at least in the past 80 years, but they are thinking an appointee will not go through this year.

Of course I have no faith in republicans to fight as they should.
