Superbowl Commercial needed for 99% name recognition on super tueday.

It would have to be one kick-ass commercial!
Definately get the exposure and would be a turning point in the campaign

No, the ads are watched. The super bowl is the only time people actually stick around and watch them. I've been to parties where everyone stops talking to see the lates 'new' ad.

They are talked about before the game and analyzed after the game (well on the Monday morning programs anyway)

A very creative, funny spot... like something Jon Stewart would show making fun of the other candidates, then showing the seriousness of the issues and Ron Paul would be incredible.

Show the debates with them laughing, and Ron Paul saying... You think this is funny?

I don't know.

It's a thought, but it's really late to put something together.

Right, the commercials are a part of the superbowl. We record them and everyone talks about them.

It seems like it costs a lot on paper, BUT...

It costs several hundred thousand bucks to run ONE tv ad in ONE state.

2.7 million clams to reach THE WHOLE FUCKING COUNTRY is not too much to ask at all, and will do more than the 23 million we're already scrambling to raise.

Besides, look at the donation numbers, we're 1/3rd of the way there.

Also, he needs to focus on more "at home" issues.

Ron Paul Could Say The Following, and it would take LESS than 30 seconds.

"I am a true conservative republican who will bring our troops home safely but still fight the terrorists, save the economy, take care of our homeland, and secure our borders."

Done. Ron Paul Wins.

Next!

Don't forget "donate now at " blah blah. The we will definitely hit the quota for donations. If everyone donated 1 dollar that was watching the superbowl, 140 million bucks! That would be awesome! Tell everyone to donate one buck to Ron Paul to show their support for ending the war!

Unfortunately, the minimum is $5...

But I'm sure some still would!

We do need to try this!!

Luntz up the SuperBowl add

I think the SuperBowl adv is a great idea, it would be a first in Presidential Campaigns. Also, cost a lot. But, take Luntz's suggestions and actually test the add to get the proper emotional response. Slightly negative about the subject matter, but extremely positive about Ron Paul our candidate. It's all about the emotion.

Then play the same great adv in all the Super Tuesday states.

Or, skip the SuperBowl if it's too much.

An emotional adv, that has the proper response probably only keeps it's effect for few days, so the commercial blitz needs to be occur between the Super Bowl and Tuesday.

2.7 million dollars could send approx 6 million first class letters to people, 9 million postcards, or approx 3,000 billboards. I think the majority of people are not impacted by commercials unless they see alot of them. Repetition is key and the commercial can serve as this but cannot replace good hard work of getting the word out.

Luntz it up. It's the economy

I agree, 2.7 million way to much.

Repetition, last year to get name recognition.

In the few days before the vote, it's all emotion. Luntz is right. Repetition isn't nearly as important as building a "positive" emotional state in the voter about voting for Ron Paul. One viewing should make the voter feel that they are "positively" voting for Ron Paul.

The voter views the commercial one, or two, or maybe three times. Thinks about something wrong with what is going on and has a huge emotional response that Ron Paul is the one to fix it.

Economy, Economy, Economy, inflation, high prices, only candidate who will fix the dollar and zero inflation. Ron Paul talks about going to the gold standard, that's ok, or legalizing real money again, that ok too. But talking about gold, silver????? What we really talking about is "zero inflation" or "deflation" of the dollar, if done with gold and silver (yes in the best of worlds), But in 30 seconds has to be in the simplest terms.

"What happened to my money, Ron Paul will fix it."

or

<several iterations later, here is the best I've come up with, so far>

Ron Paul holding a stack of $100 bills, takes one, "Is this the new twenty?", "We've suffered all our lives watching the dollar dwindle, I'm Ron Paul, and I'll restore faith in and fix the dollar, imagine, a dollar that's worth a dollar when your child retires."

Just an ideas.

Beginning slightly negative about Economy building hope for the future at the end.

When I noticed this thread I came in saying, no way should he blow $3 million in 30 seconds. After reading the debate, I think Paul MUST do this, if it's allowed by the NFL/network.

The Super Bowl is Feb. 3. Super Tuesday is Feb. 5. A KILLER ad would ride Paul to 100% name recognition JUST when he most needs it. Such a spot would still be in people's minds 48 hours later while voting in 20 states. It's wholesale rate advertising to the whole nation, or only $150,000 per Super Tuesday state. The media will be put on the spot again, to have to cover the novelty of a provocative political ad run during the big game. This is a no-brainer!

We always have time to do mail and newspaper ads. The Super Bowl is a ONE TIME Bonanza. The 2-days-before-the-primary timing is just too delicious. It's the movement's money, so the movement should choose what airs. Somebody set up a website with the 4-5 best 30 second grassroots ads, and let the grassroots choose the ad! This would eliminate the hand wringing afterwards about "if only HQ had gone with this spot." If we're really daring, maybe two different spots should air for a total cost of $6 million. The top two spots get picked via the website, or the campaign could run their 'official' ad, and later the grassroots one. This would bring real excitement to the Revolution, which has dipped a bit. I say, DO IT!!

Yeah, but how many people with those mailers will actually join the campaign! We probably can reach more, bring more people to the table and money! We have to think the 3 million it would cost, we could easily get that back with new voters that we reached!

Risky!<IMHO> But may well be worth a shot if it's allowed. What are the other feasible alternatives? Who knows?

nfl will not allow it we discussed it multiple times

I take it what your saying is that you or someone else contacted the nfl and they said no, to a paid political campaign advertisement?

Super Tuesday is what is necessary to get the momentum rolling better.

If not, what are the chances that the Ron Paul Blimp will not get any photo shots during the game? It would be a lot cheaper to have it flying around the dome the entire game, and go for a few shots of the Blimp. Would be cheaper, Blimp new message on the side.

Ron Paul, obeys the Constitution

or

Ron Paul, A Constitutional President

or

Ron Paul, fixes the value of the Dollar

or...

This might not be a bad idea, considering that the typical football audience is rather apathetic to getting involved in elections. This could give RP an immediate 40% boost in name recognition.

Until now, I've prefered funding the DVD mail bombs for advertising, but this might work.

Don't wait till Bloomberg does it!

The commercial better be top notch.

Here's a 10 second SuperBowl commercial.

4 second video of Ron Paul answering Chris Wallace of Fox:

"Do you take your marching orders from AlQueada?"

"Ron Paul: NOOOOOOO!"

Follow this for 2 seconds with a screen that says:
"Dr. NO ?"

Next 4 seconds:
"Google Ron Paul"

This could be considered and paid for by Google. They've already contributed $22,500 to the campaign already. It would actually be a Google ad.
