Super Bowl Commercial Update

That is why we need something that might look like a Movie Intro, which is exactly why I am pulling for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm1ogIIXrTE.
:D

well.. after seeing this one.. for a superbowl add.. it might be a little more appropriate.. but again... there needs to be something about Economics and Illegal immigration..

if he could bust something out ASAP that deals with some CORE republican issues in addition to what he has... you can fit a little more in...

Voters are not really concerned about the internet.. OVER monetary practice OR abolishing the Federal Income Tax.. those seem much more important than the internet in terms of perceptions...

needs to say Republican for President.. somewhere...

I would add:

No talking - hooks the viewer
Dynamic, dramatic - doesn't initially look like an ad

I love the ad, but, and with great respect for the creator, I would unfortunately also have to add that
  • There is no talking or narration (Taking verbal communication away subtracts those not directly reading the television from our audience. It is a big sporting event, people will be moving around, chatting, getting food, whatever. They can't help but hear the message if they are in the area; adding a verbal element gives us a more captive audience.)
  • The effects look somewhat unpolished (this is a "national" ad during the Superbowl)
  • The commercial asks "Who Is Ron Paul?" and yet never answers the question. It never once says that he is Republican, that he is running for President, not even the majority of the positions that Joe and Jane voter care about.
  • It barely shows Dr. Paul himself

I know it is the Superbowl and it is supposed to be festive and everything but in the end, let's face it, most people aren't going to be chatting about the random Ron Paul video off of YouTube, no matter which one we use. CocaCola or eBay or something is going to go all out and make local news headlines and get anchors chuckling on the morning shows. Whatever, that isn't the point.

The point is that the Superbowl is a guaranteed semi-captive audience of Millions of people. We can buy a spot that we know will reach many many many times more people than the average TV ad, guaranteed. Ron Paul has a message, and sure, some people are going to shrug, and some guy is going to be too busy heating up nacho cheese to hear about the Constitution over the microwave, but there is 1 in 10 or 20 or whatever who will hear it and go "dang I should really check that out...he looks serious!" or "man Ron Paul is stepping up...the Superbowl! With Fred gone, maybe Ron isn't so bad afterall!" or, the best, "Ron Paul? Hmm...*click* *Google* *tatata* damn! *tatata* *clickclick* *donate hundreds of hours and dollars in defense of liberty*"

With such a huge audience, more than ever will perk up and take notice! We have to have all the features on display - cast our net as wide as possible. I think frankdogg's does that best, as least of what I've seen so far.

Not necessarily...We want Name Recognition, and let people discover RP and his platorm on their Own. If I saw this ad for the first time, On TV, it would pique my curiosity. Think About it. The most fervent, rabbid supporters are those that discover the wisdom of paul on their own. Don't think TYPICAL, think ATYPICAL, exciting, epic, NEW. That ad does it. Let people start wondering,a nd discussing him on their own. The less it seems like a political ad the more effective it will be on that day :D

You make a good point though. It would be nice if he threw in something about the federal income tax, instead of the internet. I might remove the internet one, and ad something about taxes/economy instead, otherwise, thematically this one is the most professional and will work for that day.

good idea we could ad more chips

Great! Add another chip in there for property rights, and see if you cannot glue together the winning deck! ;)

I'm in FL so we can't use this ad here unfortunately, though we are running some good ones now for this area like Jeremiah Black's Pastor Chuck Baldwin ad along with Chris Rye's Bo Thompson ad.

Good idea on adding more chips

I don't want to complain and I don't want you to take my response as an insult, but please here me out:

Although I absolutely love frankdogg's commercials, I think that the message saying "imagine if there were no war in Iraq" is totally inappropriate. Imagine if you were a Conservative Republican that is pro-war. Since that is the audience we are targeting, especially since voter registration is over, we must understand that when we say that Dr. Paul is against Iraq, we will be RUINING the campaign's effort. They are trying to get out the Conservative side of Ron Paul in these states, and if we continue with this ad, we will be turning away people.

Good work getting the copyright permissions though! You guys are brilliant, but please keep my advice in the front of your mind. The millions of dollars that we've given the campaign will be made useless when Republican voters find out that Dr. paul is against the war. PLEASE DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE.

I'm sorry for continuously bringing up this point but it's too important to ignore. I don't want Dr. Paul to lose just because we chose the "cool" commercial.

yah i liked this one when it first came out

The problem is the sound track is probably not something we can get

contact info for the musician is in the info for the vid, and while he sells a CD, he let some kid in art school use it. Also, that one was made for the ad contest for the debate and one of the rules were you had to have the rights for everything - so it should be free and clear.

on the cursive comment - that's kind of a problem with the issues, but it wouldn't be that hard for him to fix.

still think it's viable.

best to give money and rotate ads

there are so many good ads...

personally we just need to donate a lot more money and put them all across america in their proper spots...

ron paul is by frank dogg...no complaints i hear.

chuck baldwin endorsement ad for conservative voters.

After this there is a good sound track match to imagine by frank dogg.

Then for CA definitely would think adrian grey and eliberty ad would fit.

We know all of these are ready to go.

Many others are good but i am not sure if they are ready in high res and ready to go and had all rights, issues covered, etc.

There are also several really good 60 seconds that i would love to see us show.

But maybe after the super bowl?

Still though we need an economic, jobs, illegal immigration ad done our way rather than the campaign and soon...

Berman had stuff for the campaign that i saw he submitted for you tube that is good in 3 different versions. Dont know if this is all campaign footage or if he shot stuff on his own i heard also. Looks like movie grade film work...

I liked that ad a lot, but the "Who Is Ron Paul?" message to start off the ad will not be best for us at this point in time anymore. I mean let's face it, we've genereated a LOT of press for him and he's been all but one debate, and because of that even MORE press was generated for him.

Unfortunately to the masses the name itself probably generates a slight negative connotation due to the media so a campaign ad talking about opposing the patriot act, the war, etc. would not seem to do as well as something that would illicit an emotional response.

The only one that seems to have a story, a message, and captivate the audience is the poker ad. People will be pulling for the blue collared working stiff against the elitist. They see the chips and those are GOOD things but they still have no clue what this ad is about. I mean it looks bad when the elitist wins these things and it will be the underdog coming back with a knockout punch at the end of the 10th round when this normal average guy stops the elitist from taking everything and wins. Then he places down the Ron Paul r3VOLution deck. This is pretty darn powerful IMHO and will place a positive emotional response towards Ron Paul after this. Best suited ad for the Superbowl!

I'm tellin ya, a typical campaign ad with political messages will turn people off during the superbowl! I'm stuck with a bunch of these type of idiots myself as an engineer even and that's how they'll react for the most part.

DO THE POKER AD!!! :)

don't wanna sound negative, but i've yet to see an ad that targets the republican base.

all i see is hip & trendy commercials.
sure that might get us some independent/democratic votes but do you really think a 30 sec ad will sway enough ppl to change party and to vote ?

I myself can not make a video, but I will allow anyone creative to make one based on my ideas.

idea 1# I would do a fake smear ad. Have that usual creepy electonic keyboard sound for each point. Portray all his good stuff as negative. Have the voiceover speak in creepy low tone as well. Imagery should be colorful that turns black and white. - The usual attack ad cliches.

Ron Paul voted AGAINST the Patriot Act....Clip of Paul....Ron Paul has NEVER voted to raise taxes...Clip of Paul...Ron Paul voted AGAINST the Iraq war...clip of paul...then have a dark red LIBERTY stamp across a frozen black and white image of him .....If you want to vote for Liberty, prosperity, and the constitution..then support Ron Paul...but if you want true change you vote for....(commercial goes black)

thats obviously a rough version and you play with it.

#2 - The other idea was a play on those southwest airlines "wanna get away" commercials and I'd tell ron paul's campaign to contact them. Simply enough you have ron paul at a debate being ignored, you watch him getting bored, show a clock in the corner, maybe a slogan "fair and balanced" Faux news, doing a few things that are humorous to keep himself busy, .........then at the end of it..."wanna get away"....not sure how they get to the punchline of the commercial, or how they keep it funny without insulting Paul, but I like it.

#3 - Easy enough, someone should make a Ghandi ron paul commerical, based on his quote. "First they ignore you,(show a clip maybe something about him coming in second in nevada) then they ridicule you (maybe hannities reaction to paul winning the debate), then they fight you (clip of him and huckabee when they went at it over iraq), then you win." (this last line must be huge and the rattle off his voting record)

So what do you guys think?

Where are we now in terms of fundraising?

The page shows the same as yesterday.

I think there have been at least a couple of donations since then...
