Paul's spokesman Jesse Benton said the national staff would likely be reduced from 150 to about 50, with those who worked in the Super Tuesday primaries in states such as California being let go.

"In addition, Benton said, he and other national staffers will transfer to Paul's congressional re-election operation....read the rest:

It's about friggin time. They should let go another 30 people and trim it down to 20 staffers total.

lol... these dolts in 'national' were 'congressional re-election' quality from the get go... good to see them back on a project they can actually handle...

History will not judge these c-listers kindly.

I'm actually surprised they're awake enough to realize that they have staff that do not have actual jobs any more. It would not have surprised me one bit to see people stay in the rolls because nobody noticed they were still there.

The campaign was weak and ineffective. I think they might have overestimated the number of Meet Up members who were actually going to campaign, but on the other hand, they didn't organize their efforts very much either.

Of course, I suspect the Romney campaign ran like a well oiled machine, and he didn't win either. BUt at least he got press.

Romney spent 17 mil on press consultants, I don't think Ron Paul has the same amount of money.

Yes, but even spending 1-2 million could have paid off. There were lots of stories about the campaign not responding to interview requests, not properly scheduling press conferences....even Huckabee managed to spend some money on the loathsome press corps.

Ron Paul ran a weak campaign. Would he have done better if he had hired better experts? We'll never knoww. Bay Buchanan has been on 2 losing campaigns now, so she's no guarantee of success apparently.

Romney and his campaign are running a deficit of about 40 million.
THis campaign did a good job. The mainstream campaigns are all broke, with the excpetion of Obama, and he has a grass roots support mechanisim.
Fighting the establishment is tough.
Fighting the establishment without lowering our standards is even tougher. The Paul campaign is not about winning at any cost.
The Paul campaign is about LEADING a movement.
He is teaching us how to earn our freedom, the right way.
It took over 100 years for the establishment to gain control. It will take us a lot longer than 6 months to take it back. Stay the course !

(Rant)Paul didn't really think things would go as far as they did. The National campaign never did anything to further a win any where. Iowa nothing he didn't even campaign there, same for NH and yet we were told to give so we could win those states. next it was the, give so we can win Nevada and La, no ads, ZIp nothing. Next , you must give people so we can win super Tuesday. Paul has a plan, he will be the last man standing, he will start his advertising around super Tuesday.

The billionaire shit shows up about this time. We are just breathless to see this major and long awaited plan. Everyone here just knew he was saving his money for the big push in spectacular national ads........nothing, super Tuesday fizzles and no doubt major vote fraud everywhere, under every rock.

The national and state campaigns seem to have gone out of their way to NOT help in any way. Here in wa, we received an email with the download pkg. for the caucus. The sign in sheet had RON PAUL 2008 in the left hand corner in effin 2" letters!!
Now we are told in the instructions to fill it out and go have it signed at the caucus!!!

We were told originally to lay low as Paul supporters, don't wear shirts or buttons, but you can walk in as a newbie with that *%^$ sign on your main page and tip the ballot stuffing scum in charge know strait away you are for Paul! I called the number on the email and the guy scrambled to send another email to the thousands of caucus goers, unfortunately it made no mention of the needed change and came way to late for any one to use it. what a joke.

Now we are waiting for the campaign to begin in earnest with all that saved money because we are going to go to a brokered convention................you know the rest.

Paul never planned to win and he was shocked it grew so large and powerful.

I believe this is a repeat of Ross Perot. I believe just like Dennis Kucinich, Paul has been threatened. Paul ran a lousy campaign for sure. and lew Moore and all that bunch including his wife that drew down those large salaries should be ashamed of themselves. I posted a piece about the cato institute a couple of weeks ago and it disappeared. Paul brought people in from that outfit, he brought in neocon traitors unknowingly I hope into the heart of his campaign,

See how they just threatened Kucinch and I think you will see why Paul dropped out and has gone to try and win the house seat. There is pay back for his run that turned 20% or more of the population into a new movement. Expect the jack booted thugs to be kicking down our doors folks. The people that threatened Kucinich and Paul are the true enemy of this Country and the tip of the spear that has brought us down. Until we take them out of our gov and banking we will be their slaves forever.

Kucinich throws Pelosi and AIPAC out of his office!!

— 3 February 2008 — Exclusive to New Jersey Impeach Groups - ImpeachThem.com — We received a phone call today from a source in the Kucinich for President campaign, telling us there’s more to the story of Rep. Kucinich’s withdrawal than is publicly known. The source gave us permission to publish this, but without attribution. We can say the source is high up in the campaign. Most progressives are aware there’s been a large flood of money feeding a campaign by a democrat who seeks to win the primary for Dennis Kucinich’s seat in Ohio’s 10th congressional district, where Dennis has served the interests of working people for 6 consecutive terms — since 1996. Here’s the rest of the story, untold ‘til now. — Click the KUCINICH BANNER to read the rest —

Before the Nevada primary, Dennis was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — AIPAC. They told Dennis that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives.

Kucinich threw them out of his office.

Dennis now faces the toughest election campaign of his entire tenure in congress, with huge amounts of money being spent to turn his constituents against him due to “his neglect of his district while he ran for president.”

So yes, Virginia, it is exactly as you suspected. This man the mainstream media say is not relevant, poses such a threat to the powers that be that they are hellbent to destroy him, and remove that troublemaker from congress.

It’s up to us, all who understand the crucial voice of Dennis Kucinich speaking up for justice and working to stop our country’s fall into fascist barbarity, to come forward to help him continue the peoples’ work. There’s no better time than right now, so go to CONTRIBUTE TO DENNIS KUCINICH. Help Dennis now. Help him TODAY.

The campaign could have hired at least one advisor with experience running a national campaign. It would have been a great investment from the beginning.

We should have hired Ed Rollins or another experienced political operative. Not this clown Jesse Benton - as well meaning as he is.

Glad to see them out of the national camapaign. It should have happened the day after Iowa.

Those guys were mediocre brains running the whole campaign mechanically and reflexively, as if programmed and running on their old congressional district auto-pilot.

The ineptitude and unsuitablity of their small-minded feel-good vapid ads were painful. Their handling of FOX debate exclusion (Ron Paul's town hall meeting) was such a low quality production, about two grades lower than a typical amateur You Tube video by Dr. Paul fans, I cringed when it came on.

Most importantly, they were completely clueless about the role of grassroots and how to tap its vast network of energy, creativity and intelligence to fight the MSM and Republican establishment. That concept was so far beyond their congressional district pinhole vision and tiny mental models, they mindlessly dissipated the grassroots enthusisasm, misspent its energy and missapplied or ignored its creativity.

Good riddance to the HQ campaign staff that nearly wiped out Ron Paul revolution. The no-staff would have at least done much less damage to the movement and maybe allowed or stimuated the grassroots to spawn its own umbrella group to collect the money, decide on its use and coordinate the whole grassrots. There are still nine months till elections and it is not too late for Dr Paul to sit down, wipe the slate clean and re-think the whole project from scratch and in depth, then do it right (provided he actually wants the job).

Well I'm not surprised about this. Should this not have its own thread? There is no place for good men in USA unless they are prepared to lose everything they have.

It strikes me that people behave like spoilt brats because they have not got their own way. Paul was running a campaign the way he would have in the eighties when elections were not auctions! Don't you see? Even your goddamn elections are about money and good suits?
Get over yourselves and stop whinging. He lacks slick! Thtat is WHY he is our Man!.

Of course, I suspect the Romney campaign ran like a well oiled machine, and he didn't win either. BUt at least he got press.

Romney was empty slick car salesman with no depth of vision and no charisma. Huck at least has a genuine southern charm and, more importantly, he has Ed Rollins (the Huck's brain; Rollins magick also conjured the Ross Perot's miracle, until the latter self-destructed). We need someone in the league of Ed Rollins, Karl Rove (Bush's brain) or the late Lee Atwater, if the miracle is to happen to this campaign.

Yes, but even spending 1-2 million could have paid off. There were lots of stories about the campaign not responding to interview requests, not properly scheduling press conferences....even Huckabee managed to spend some money on the loathsome press corps.

Elite political advisors are few and far between. It must be difficult to hire ones that are not totally in bed with the establishment and can be trusted.

Karl Rove? :D

I stopped at the first lie. He brought in 350 student volunteers and ran ads all over the state. Either you are in bed with some other establishment candidate and trying to spread dissent to break up the movement, or just an ignorant gasbag.

Exactly right. A Rollins type would have been nice to have, but never would have gone to work for Ron, and if he had, could never have been trusted.

And about the campaign in VA. The staff was not nimble enough to run this type of campaign. They did put resources where they needed to be, so that is not a valid criticism. But it was often too late and without learning lessons from early states then applying them to later states.

B.S. Rollins approached the campaign and they turned him away. Get your facts straight before posting stuff like this as if it were fact.
