Straw Poll Results: Ron Paul wins online (49%); finishes third in "in-house" poll (15%)

That would be a good point if they hadn't marketed the online poll as a 'vote in THE straw poll'. We cost them less as attendees, too, no seats, no facility, little overhead. If they were upfront about it, would we have paid anything?

Yes. That is exactly the point.

Also, the poll of the in-house event is not indicative of the tea party as a whole. It is indicative of those who live nearby and had 2 free days time.
The Tea Party as a whole supports Ron Paul. In fact within the Tea Party people who attended this event, more than twice as many people support Ron Paul as do Cain

The optimistic side of this is that it may force some "Tea Party" critics to acknowledge we're not racists.

Yes, but on the REALLY bad side, it will show some that the Tea Party voted for a former FED employee who supported the bank bailouts.

THAT is it exactly. It is entirely reasonable to have assumed there was ONE poll with ONE overall result. I don't care if attendees paid $1,000 dollars, there was no reason to assume online votes would be treated differently. That it not the way it was marketed. There was no indication that we were voting in some sub-division of the overall poll. Now, the way the results have been reported puts us in a boat with Herman Cain. Herman Cain for God's sake. Yeah, Paul and Cain...those two fringe long-shots. Ugh!

But those of us that spent the $10 were lied to. We were promised a chance to vote in THE straw poll. Already the poll that we voted in is getting ignored in the media. I will dispute the charge on my credit card, since I was not given what I promised. I urge others to do similar.

Just sent this to [email protected]

I was promised an opportunity to vote in THE presidential straw poll, not a second class "online straw poll". This was not made clear up front, therefore I demand that my charge be refunded. If the charge is not promptly refunded, I will dispute it with my credit card company.
Thanks,
limequat

Why do we have to make an enemy out of a group that has been kind to Ron?

ugh

Its money out of my pocket and I'm pissed. And I wouldn't say that manipulating the results away from ron is being kind.

I don't blame you. To me, this whole thing stunk from the beginning. That's why I refused to dish out the $10. All these main line Tea Party groups are frauds. BTW, isn't Tea Party Patriots funded by the pro FED Koch brothers?

The good news is beating Sara, Mitt, and Newt in-house.

Can someone combine the numbers and put up a blog post that we can spread? Headline:

Ron Paul Wins Tea Party Patriots Straw Poll

This idea has merit. Let's just put out the real story, with a good picture of Ron and spread it eve everywhere! No bias, and qualifications, just the real facts. Will someone please do this?

There isn't a need to go nuclear on anyone involved, but we SHOULD set the record straight with our own articles. We need to keep making friends where possible - that's how we win elections, not by hollering at people.

Anyone got a blog that we can use which will include a picture?

The Las Vegas Sun article I posted in General Politics kind of takes that tack. At least it points out at the end that if you average the two polls together Ron gets over 30% and blows everyone else away.
