Straw Poll and report from tonight

Also on the back of the ballot they asked questions such as which age bracket you are in, what is your sex, and who you supported in the '08 primary. Look for them to use those numbers to skew the results.

Matt, you need to seal the deal on that 8/10 (I'm not being generous, face means everything to me). She's the right height for you too (doesn't make you look like a dwarf).

Would smash if given the chance.

You mean in addition to the 800 possible from C4L members? I think so. He got 9.5% of the non-C4L/YAL vote at CPAC. 9.5% of the non-C4L vote at the SRLC would be about 300.

...but we know that Paul was not able to sell all those tickets.

Maybe he sold half or something at most.

When is Ron's speech?
When are the straw poll results announced?
Do you think we have a good shot?

Yes we have a good shot. Ron's speech is allegedly at 3pm but we want everyone to be there by 2. Also The straw poll results will not be announced until the exclusive gala afterwards which of course none of us will be at. :)

Ok so how many attended CPAC. How many attended SRLC.

And how many voted at each?

Unfortunately, I am inclined to believe him. Our group tends to throw some mean after parties. I had a few crazy nights myself down at CPAC.

~10k attended CPAC 2010, 2,395 voted, C4L sold 568 tickets, Ron received 742 votes.

~2000 attended SRLC 2006, 1430 voted.

~4000 are attending SRLC 2010. C4L issued 800 tickets.

If we do pull this off and win the poll, I hope it's by a believable margin. It would be easy to discredit by the MSM if Paul wins with like 80%.

I looked on C4L forums, and I don't see anything about them selling out.

Here's a conservative estimate of how Ron will do:

1. Assume total SRLC registrations at the high end of estimates, 4,000.

2. Assume that opening the straw poll a day early this year (and on the day Palin speaks) raises participation in the straw poll from 72% in 2006 to 85% this year, for a total of 3,400 votes.

3. Assume that among the 800 C4L registrations, 600 are guaranteed Ron Paul votes.

4. Assume that Ron Paul's votes among non-C4L members drops from 9.5% at CPAC to 7% at the SRLC due to the more establishment-leaning tendency of the conference.

Ron Paul's vote total is therefore 600 + 0.07 * (3,400 - 800) = 782.

That's 782/3400 = 23%, which quite possibly wins the straw poll.

Look at the threads from yesterday about people being told C4L's tickets were sold out when they tried to buy them. Natalie and JoshLowry had to get leftover tickets from torchbearer.
