Due to our current "situation" regarding the "pandemic" I pulled out an old movie, "The STAND". I remember it being a killer flu etc but the similarities are striking.

U.S. engineered "superflu" originates at an ARMY base, contamination ensues, virus spreads... It's mentioned to be "SWINE Flu" many times in the movie and martial law comes quickly. I advise you pick this movie up if you haven't seen it or rewatch it and look for similarities.

It was an incredibly compelling novel by Stephen King (the only other 1,000-page book I've ever read other than "Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand) and a very good film adaptation also.

There's this one guy who frequently calls into Free Talk Live (sorry, I forget his name) who claims that Stephen King killed John Lennon. Maybe King iced Lennon because he "knew too much" about the coming "real life" Superflu! :D

The book was definitely better. But at least they didn't butcher the story with the movie like they did with "The Shining."

If you want to read another story about how the government would likely handle such a crisis, King's "Dreamcatcher" is pretty effing scary.

If you're a fan of Graphic Novels, King has a new series based on "The Stand" out now.
