This documentary has been around for several years now, so most of you may already know of it. It involves the law of attraction, which I fully accept, and have used, and am now using to the fullest degree in my life. I'm sharing this because I really believe it can not only improve your life, but can change the course of history for our country if we use it together.

Enjoy and discuss. Happy New Year, everyone!

Here's what I took from the video:

1. Ask. What do you really want? Ask for it. Write it out on paper. Read it every day.

2. Believe. Develop an unwavering faith that it is already yours.

3. Receive. Feel the feeling of having already received it. Act! Don't delay, don't second guess! When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there - ACT. THIS IS KEY!

Apply the following techniques to the process:

1. Be grateful for what you already have. Make a list. Stop focusing on what you don't have, and be grateful for what you do have. Wake up thinking about what you're grateful for, it's a great way to start the day.

2. Visualize. Another key to making this work is visualizing the end result. For example, if you want that perfect job, or that loving relationship, or your perfect weight- visualize the outcome. Don't get hung up thinking about HOW you're going to make it happen.

3. Emotion. Do whatever you have to do to generate the feeling of already having achieved your goal or desire.

Note: Become aware of your thoughts, and choose your thoughts carefully. And remember, your thoughts cause your feelings. Our feelings are a feedback mechanism about whether we're on track or not. Focus on feeling good. Do the things that make you feel good. Learn to master your thoughts and feelings. Have fun with this. And, always focus on the feelings of happiness and gratitude.

Don't worry about 'how' your desire is going to come about. Most of us have never allowed ourselves to want what we truly want because we can't see 'how' it's going to manifest. Many accomplished people did not know how they were going to do it, they only knew they were going to do it. They felt it in the inner core of their being. Don't let disappointment overcome you. Replace it with unwavering faith.

Don't ever focus on or fear what you don't want. When doubt, or dread, or fear come into your mind, replace those thoughts/emotions with ones that align with your desires.

WHEN YOU HAVE INSPIRED THOUGHT, YOU HAVE TO TRUST IT, AND YOU HAVE TO ACT ON IT.

It's not enough to just think positive thoughts or visualize what you want. You HAVE to put yourself in the 'feeling' of actually having attained the desire.

Decide what you want; believe you deserve it; believe it's possible for you; then, close your eyes every day for several minutes visualizing what you want, and feel the feeling of already having it. Come out of that and focus on what you're already grateful for. Enjoy the process. Release it, and let the law of attraction do the rest.

Here are some indisputable facts for you:

1. The entire Universe and everything in it is made up of energy.

2. Every thought has a frequency, you can measure a thought. Your thoughts are emitting a magnetic frequency.

3. The field of psychology took the visualization process that was used in the Apollo program and instituted it during the 80s and 90s into the Olympic program and named it ‘Visual Motor Rehearsal’. They then took Olympic track and field athletes and hooked them up to bio-feedback machines and had them running their events in their minds. The same muscles fired in the same sequence in their minds as on the field. The mind cannot distinguish between visualization and reality. Tiger Woods and many other professional athletes use this form of training.

4. In medical science, they are beginning to understand the degree to which thoughts and emotions actually determine the physical substance, structure, and functions of our bodies. Consider the placebo effect. Consider the cliché: mind over matter.

5. Science has learned that the human mind is the biggest factor in healing.

6. The law of attraction has been well known for thousands of years. It’s found in the Bible, and every well-known philosopher has taught on it. Consider Plato for example. Inventors, athletes, scientists, writers, composers, and on and on throughout history have used the law of attraction and talked about it.

7. The law of attraction manifests the things you are thinking and feeling, whether your thoughts are good or bad, and whether you believe it or not. Your entire life is a result of what your thoughts and feelings have attracted into it. "Whether you think you can or you can't - either way you are right." Henry Ford

My sister got into this and it nearly ruined her life. I'd caution anyone against such new-age practices.

How in the world can positive thinking ruin your life??

This isn't 'New Age'. The law of attraction is as old as the law of gravity. Not to mention that asking for what you want, thinking positive, gratitude, and 'mind over matter' is Biblical.

I've heard of this and I think a certain positive mindset can increase the likelihood of returns. This is far from guaranteed though. I'd be concerned a person taking this very literally would embrace risky financial behavior expecting to "attract" returns.

Except, that isn't how it works. What you think about habitually, you attract into your life, whether it is good or bad. If a person embraces a risky financial endeavor and has even the slightest fear that it won't work, or any discomfort about doing it - it won't work. And besides, positive thinking doesn't replace sound judgment.

It's a complicated story that I'd rather not get into, this was part of her gateway into New Ageism.

You're right, this isn't anything new, but it's incorporated heavily in the New Age movement, a sort of spiritualism without God. You can borrow heavily from the Bible and still miss the point completely. Still, all positive things: being grateful, being positive, not letting circumstances get you down...but this method is taken to extremes and introduces the concept of "the Universe" being some sort of deity.

I would say this is more appropriate as a religious debate, rather than a political philosophy.

Yep. There's con artists aplenty in this movement. They swindle you out of your money for their positive/successful life transformation marketing schemes and then guilt trip you when you speak up. It's in the video. Some philosopher was using a seed analogy and said when you start to doubt, "the Universe" takes away your blessings and the seed retracts. It's a breeding ground for crooks.

My sister lost $1000s getting caught up in all of this.

They refer to God in the video, but yes, they use the term 'Universe' throughout. Since I believe in God, I chose to replace 'Universe' with God. And my faith in this process, is expressed through my faith in him, and my gratitude is also given to him.

The mods can move it if that's appropriate. But, I chose to put it here because I believe this can work politically as well, and I'd like to expand the discussion to that if this thread ever gets any momentum.

There are snake oil salesmen aplenty. It's necessary to always be prudent with every venture. Here's what I took from the video:

And what if multiple people are utilizing the same technique for the same goal? I'm sure many of RPF would say they were positive, committed heart and soul daily, and visualized Dr. Paul as President. Who's responsible for him not being elected? The visualizers or the universe?

I haven't watched this yet, but it sounds familiar... kinda like Napoleon Hill. Is this a derivative?

Sounds like she was doing it wrong? How did that happen?

Lots of pyramid scams use this kind of stuff to add an almost spiritual-like devotion to their "company". Surely you're familiar with the track record of these network marketing scams.

We didn't apply the law of attraction. It's not enough to be positive and committed. There is a process. There's a segment in that video that goes into why the wrong guy gets elected.

Well there are some new age folks who are what I would call trust fund dropouts. They have a huge trust fund and live a minimalist lifestyle, traveling around going to festivals and occasionally spring for some extravagances.

I do know of some places that hold yoga and new age classes and activities, but the one film showing I went to was either very cheap or free. It was here:

http://www.sacredspacestudio.com/

I don't know of any of these types of companies that are network marketing scams that operate within the new age philosophy, so if they exist I don't think they have widespread popularity. I do attend new age hippie festivals several times a year and have been for several years. They aren't very expensive, they are a lot of fun and very entertaining. People mostly just setup a bunch of really cool art pieces everywhere, do a bunch of mushrooms and LSD and smoke a bunch of weed and listen to electronic music and socialize. I would imagine most would frown upon people going around trying to recruit for a MLM type of product at these events.

How about we do an experiment, right here in this thread?

This sure would mean a lot to me if anybody who was interested could participate.

New age folks tend to be into numerology and such. On 11/11/11 I attended a new age festival and somebody sitting next to me got up from their chair and somebody else noticed that they had left exactly $0.11 (one dime & one penny) right on the chair. I took a picture of it for evidence. I also had a very enlightening weekend. The #1 goal in my life at the time was to find a romantic partner as I had lacked one for some time. That was pretty much the entire focus of my life.

2 weeks later I invited a girl over and we ended up hooking up that night. The next morning after she left, I looked on my chair where she had left all her stuff and to my surprise she had forgotten a pair of pink socks along with, you got it, $0.11 (one dime & one penny). I took another picture for evidence.

We ended up falling in love, she moved in with me and the next two years were the best two years of my life. They weren't a perfect, she isn't perfect and neither am I, but for some reason I feel like we belong together and were meant for each other. I bought her a puppy and we have considered him our 'son' and 'raised him' together and he is the cutest and one of the happiest, loving little dogs in the whole world.

Two months ago we were both completely in love. We had moved into our own place from living with roommates previously. She had professed her undying love to me and me to her in early November. That was when something happened which may or may not have had a significant impact on the rest of our lives. Her doctor told her that they no longer manufactured her birth control and that they would have to put her on a new type of birth control.

In less than two weeks after switching birth control she decided that she 'wanted to see other people' and broke up with me. We didn't have any fights, it just came out of nowhere. We never celebrated our 2 year anniversary. We still live together but she is planning on moving out and already seeing somebody else. This 'somebody else' is unemployed, lives in a trailer next to his parents house and on top of that he has already totalled her car after borrowing it because his car ran out of gas. In the mean time, I am still madly in love with this girl and will do anything to get her back, but I really just don't know what to do. This whole thing is like watching a car accident in slow motion and I can't stop it from happening. Not only am I losing the woman of my life, but I see the person I care most about making horrible decisions.

I have been trying to use the concepts I learned prior to going out with her to get her back and so far no luck.

Maybe it's time to try increasing the numbers.

So as an experiment -

Visualize my soul mate falling back in love with me - meditate - send positive energy into the universe.

I will try and keep you guys up to date if it works out.

I encourage people to watch it but understand it is kook nonsense and please don't consider it as anything more than kook nonsense. There was a time where this fad was spreading around the liberty community in NH. 2-3 of the co-hosts of Free Talk Live, among others got involved. Thankfully, the guy that introduced this to the NH liberty community. It is really unfortunate that he went crazy, though :(

On the other hand, if this fiction helps you improve your life, go for it. Research shows that religious people are happier than nonreligious people. So if you want to follow this stuff, go for it.
