Spokesman says RP ending POTUS campaign

All of the upheaval comes from the people who latched their own agendas onto this campaign and are now upset that it isn't about their agendas.
Not sure that is being quite fair.

People donated and worked hard for Ron Paul's presidential race. Many of us have come to realize that this is about much more than Ron Paul and are willing to move on. However, when the national campaign tells supporters that they are going all the way to the convention and then send out a message that the campaign is "winding down" - 7 months before the convention. Well - I don't think you can blame "supporters with their own agendas" for the upheaval.

Not to mention that several states have not had primaries yet. Can you imagine the challenge of "campaigning" for RP for POTUS when the press is reporting that he has dropped out. This message effectively kills the opportunity to garner many new supporters with campaign literature ect.

Unfortunately, I now agree with some others that they need to officially end the campaign, (they have done it on a practical level already).

badabing!

I am continually baffled by the people on this forum.

Why is everybody so obsessive over nitpicking about who said what when and with what inflection of the voice in which tone blah blha blah.

He's not going to be president, he said it himself, everybody seems to understand this, whether that means the campaign is "winding down" or "ending" or "slowing up" or "suspending" or whatever phrase you want to use, the reality is the same in each instance.

The movement that he has fueled is independent, in fact, in large part launched by and as a result of, his campaign. That is the true priority and the bigger picture. The movement, advancing the cause of liberty and the Constitution. The end goal here is not to become president - it is to restore the Constitution to its rightful place in our society. The campaign was a massively successful device in spurring this movement and should be celebrated.

Some people just don't get it.

could not have said it better myself - except to add that it is a long time to the convention and if McCain implodes as anticipated and we are there as delegates, we will choose his replacement (but only if we are there)!

Well then it is obvious a lot of Ron Paul supporters DON'T GET IT!

Therefore - would it not make sense for the campaign to CLARIFY?

Unfortunately, I suppose so, although I'm skeptical about how reflective this forum is of the broader movement in general.

What needs clarification?

Anybody who stops trying to spread the message of the Constitution or individual liberty and sound money because of any of this again, unfortunately, never got it in the first place.

"Though victory in the conventional political sense is not available in the presidential race, many victories have been achieved due to your hard work and enthusiasm," Paul said in the video.

Read between the lines...:)

He is going to stay in there and get as many delegates as possible, and use his influence to affect change in the GOP. His words are fairly clear, no need to read between the lines. This is obvious! How the MSM could confuse that is hard to imagine.

Yep...we love Ron in NC:p

The video is clear as day - he's not going to be president, but he'll campaign where there's demand for it, he hopes everybody continues to spread the message and grow the movement, he's happy to be a part of it and be a big part of it but he will not be the "leader", and he thinks a great date to march would be June 21.

What is there to not understand? Anybody who reads *anything* else into the above is simply transferring their own agenda, something that people here have been doing to my annoyance for so long (i.e. third party, truthers, etc.)

If the movement is bigger than the candidate, then all the widespread concerns of that movement were, and are, vitally intregal to the message of that movement. What does defy understanding is the preoccupation of some Paul supporters to READ OUT of the movement everything they didn't like (third parties, 9/11 truth, etc.), that ironically could have sustained the movement to a much better extent than the decisions that HQ made. THAT has been the most noxious and divisive 'agenda' of all---as it has been splitting Paul from elements of his own movement---and has been far more annoying than anything else.

Didn't read the end....Don't drop out Ron....I know he won't...I will get to vote for him in NC!!! We have made so many commercials and ads for the man...the least I can do is get to vote for him in my Primary!

Can I ask why you want the Campaign to keep going on and what the point would be?

BINGO Someone finally articulated just what has been going on here for the last 18 months or so.

Because Ron is a living example of what the people should demand out of all of their elected representatives. And still, a lot of people do not even know who the man is; I know this is hard to believe for the internet generation, but old people and a lot of middle aged people don't know Ron's ideas in any depth. The longer he fights, the more people that are educated and the more people are awakened. He has to continue educating and we have to dontinue educating and fighting.
