This should take whatever credibility the SPLC has left. But probably not....

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has published a list of 23 “radical extremist” candidates from the 2010 elections, and has included in that list the name of Kentucky’s junior senator, Republican Rand Paul. In an excerpt from the organization’s Spring, 2011 publication, Intelligence Report, writer Robert Steinback argues that “Americans are generally possessed of an optimism that the democratic electoral process will filter out extremists, radicals and dangerous ideologues.”

I love the qualification the author puts at the end, pretty much calling them partisan hacks.

While it makes me proud that our guy is making the SPLC go crazy, it sickens me that these assholes have the nerve to target a sitting U.S. Senator in such a way. Have some fucking respect, bitches.

To me, it's perplexing that people still think "radical" or "extremist" is a very cutting insult. The terms are neither positive or negative in and of themselves; it all depends on what they're being used to modify. For example, there are "radical humanitarians" and "radical sadists"; though both groups can be described as "radical" in some way or another, they have little in common beyond being among the most passionate proponents of their respective worldviews. Even "radical extremist" is essentially useless as any kind of meaningful dismissal of somebody's ideas, because it's just the same concept repeated twice, as if throwing a few more syllables in there adds any weight to their argument

That's why, when somebody calls me a "radical" or an "extremist" without elaborating further, I find it hard to get mad, and tend to just laugh it off. Oh really...I believe in... something.... too much for your taste? How awful!!!

The Sayanim Projection Loudmouth Cabalette needs some serious journalism on their sorry trojan horse asses spread all over the internet. These clowns are the extremists and Bolsheviks and need to be taken out to the public square of opinion and flogged mercilessly till all their funding disappears with their "authority".

Hmmm. Now that sounds familiar... ;)

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.

And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

Hey, my family were Rom Gypsy people from Britain, white slaves. Rand has been nothing but nice to me.

Rand doesn't really count, but this reminds me of that old libertarian joke:

"Two libertarians are company, three's a hate group."
