I'm not nearly so optimistic as some people about the GOP reclamation project. I spent four years working through that beast, learning in the end that the GOP isn't worth saving. They will use the vitality of our well-intentioned young people, and after Paul is gone, the splintering effect coupled with disillusionment means they'll endure.
Which isn't to say I disagree with Ron doing what he is doing and us helping him. But understand that the nature of the two party process is that it is a multi-billion dollar industry driven by spoils, favor, and bribes on both sides, whatever legalisms are used. And in the end, the corruptible nature of legislators and the reality of our political process makes it very likely it will stay that way.
It's why I think we need to make sure, through whatever means possible, we give Ron every opportunity to succeed. Whether in the GOP or out, to the convention, to the LP, or what not, because there isn't another replacement in the wings. He needs to make the general ballot, whatever it takes.
If not, we're screwed.
