South Carolina and Nevada Results Thread

He hasn't won anything that's his problem.
Ted has 1000x more leverage to make the argument that he is the anti trump candidate.

Cruz hasn't positioned himself that way though. He's positioned himself as the Trump copycat. The more palatable Trump. That's not going to bring in the establishment voters.

lol Not all of them want to sit around collect welfare. Some of them are worried about their wages being depressed by cheap labor coming across the border. Others are worried about losing their jobs altogether because of free trade.

CNN thinks everyone is emotionally invested in these phony race wars of their choosing.

That shouldn't matter, Rubio positioned himself as the loser before the results were even in. Rubio's camp was calling it going into SC that a third place finish would be a "win". The voters aren't going to respond kindly to this.

Time will tell. I hope you're right. I'd like to see Trump first, Cruz second, and Rubio/Kasich a distant third from here on out. I expect an announcement from Carson soon that he is dropping out. My guess is he's wrangling for a cabinet position in Trump's White House. I think he stayed in this long to see who is going to get the nomination and offer to throw his support behind them in exchange for some love later on.

30% participation dropoff for the Dems in Nevada. The Obama fatigue could prove lethal. Remember that Bush gave us Obama, so Obama = ?

People want to "choose" the winner. They aren't going to vote for someone like Rubio who has lost every single contest.

Twitter is on fire tonight. Look at this one:

@ChateauEmissary Take a moment to ask David Brooks why his son served in the Israeli Defense Forces and not the US Army

I'm not even arguing though just trying to discuss the election. If I wanted to argue I would call Trump a retard.

Agree or disagree? South Carolina likely just set up an epic final for the GOP nomination: Donald Trump vs. Marco Rubio. I’d say so.
Nate Silver 9:35 PM

I basically agree, although my inner contrarian is trying to make a case for Cruz.

Carson took 7.2% in SC. Those people knew he wasn't going to win, but they voted for him anyway. Frankly, I'm surprised that many people even knew he was still running. Jeb to 7.8%, and Kasich 7.6%. That's 22.6% who voted for guaranteed losers. They aren't going to avoid Rubio just because Trump has the nomination locked up.

Take your shit somewhere else.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot goes to Cruz, remember he also has Bush ties. It's kind of like the Cruz and Rand situation, a lot of the Bush people feel like Rubio backstabbed Jeb. Unless of course Jeb endorses Rubio.

That's a great point.

Ya know what's funny? They are the slimy absolutists. If the tables were turned, they would be pleading for us to support their neocon candidate of choice. But regardless of that, this one guy Max Boot and Kristol have stated on the record that they would vote for HILLARY if DJT is the nominee!?!?! We're talking about Trotstkyites that have embedded themselves in the Republican Party. Every neocon should be purged from the GOP immediately.

Which is why Rand should never have endorsed Mittens over his own dad.

Couldn't they have just donated the money to Jerry's Kids? What a waste of money!

Ok, but why beat a dead horse? Just be happy that a blowhard billionaire has appeared to do the job of driving the neocons out of the GOP.

Rand would have been better, but we unfortunately don't happen to live in the dimension where the success of his Presidential campaign is a reality.

Megyn Kelly really really took the feud personal.
