~SOPA Blackout--January 18th~ Protect the r[evol]ution's planning ground!!

Maybe get with some of the other liberty websites and have a rolling blackout: three ours for RPFs, , three for C4L, etc. If nothing else, it would get some good denizens to explore other websites.

Craigslist also has a message up:

When PATRIOT and NDAA were passed, it was a big deal but no one acted, no mass demonstrations, or civil disobedience, just "that sucks for whoevers gonna get spied on", I'm glad to see people standing up to this.. it's direct, we KNOW it'll effect all of us because we ALL use the internet. Hope it works, lets crush these bills.

My site will be blacking out. I only get about 2000 ppl. a day. If that results in 1 more call letter or email to a rep that's fine w me

I don't agree. Some of us are addicted to RP news and would go insane without it.

The background color could just be black to remind people. I really hope google and facebook blackout. It wuld send a really powerful message.

This might be an aweful idea, but I wonder how much coverage would be generated if the campaign blacked out www.ronpaul2012.com... might cause a good stir.

bump, also although it sounds like the house version, SOPA, is being put on hold while more studies are done the senate version, PIPA, is still underway. Honestly though I don't trust them that SOPA is gone. I think they'll let the furor die down, make a few edits, give it a new name and try to push it through again.

Is Josh blacking out/going of the internet tomorrow? Michael and the Daily Paul will be blacked out....for the entire 24 hour period.

It would be a shame if the Ron Paul Forums does not support this boycott......

Josh is the Ron Paul Forums going to the support the SOPA Blackout and go off the interenet tomorrow?

503: Service Unavailable[/h]Boing Boing is offline today, because the US Senate is considering legislation that would certainly kill us forever. The legislation is called the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA), and would put us in legal jeopardy if we linked to a site anywhere online that had any links to copyright infringement.

This would unmake the Web, just as proposed in the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). We don't want that world. If you don't want it either, visit AmericanCensorship.org for instructions on contacting your Senator. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has more information on this and other issues central to your freedom online.
Thanks,

The Boingers
