I Was always a fan of George Carlin, and Saturday night (March 1), I watched his HBO special, "It's Bad for Ya". Pretty funny stuff.

At the same time, a majority of it was mroe like him on his soapbox. Hearing his views and what not, especially during that stand up, are pretty much in-line with what Ron Paul and what we stand for in terms of political topics.

I think the campaign should contact him, or if someone manages to find a way to get his email, or a forum of some sort that he might frequent - maybe we could get a message to him.

Any thoughts?

If you were George Carlin, and were contacted by the campaign staff of a candiate asking for an endorsement, would you not think that they were self-important?

I don't think he is going to endorse any politician, ever.

"I don't vote, fuck em, fuck em..."

Simple reply. Ron is NOT a politician.

He IS a statesmen. :)

So George can vote - best bet: GO to his show, one guy could scream in a break during the set "George - vote for Ron Paul" - Lulz.. and - he'll probably go on and address the topic --- or just ask him after the show :P

Well, he says "fuck 'em fuck 'em" and what nto because of the neocon agenda.

As Conza said, he's not a politician, he is a statesman. The idea is to get Ron Paul to be recognized or even just to start looking him up at least... associating him with popular names in the american culture would be a great start.

I mean, what's the hurt in trying? I don't have a lot of time now, I'll put in a put mroe later, but a couple initial searches on Google didn't pull up much of use on Carlin.

Remember guys, we need to think outside of the box on possible ways to get Ron's name out there, and garner more support for him still.

We need more ideating.

Didn't mean to thwart your efforts, just thought it was a funny quote/clip. It would be amazing to get some sort of acknowledgment from Carlin that Paul is what this country needs.

I saw Carlin's new special last night on HBO. He is the man, but there were only a few good laughs in it. It's worth watching, but IMHO he is losing a step.

PS Oh, and he won't endorse anyone.

That's just more alienating our potential base, who thinks Carlin may be funny, but extreme leftist.

Just remember how all you lefties felt about us righties before Ron Paul... that's how the right still feels about all these leftist hippies like carlin, john stewart... they like cobert cause they get him. lol

They obviously don't get Colbert or they wouldn't like him.

From what he sounded like last night, he sounded anti-federalist, more for eprsonal liberties than anything else. He def. opposes the war in iraq and policing the world.

It's the main issues here. Out of all the candidates, I'll be Ron Paul would be the one he'd support if he knew about his actual stances.

As a matter of fact, I've noticed most people who are SUPPOSED leftists are NOT for BIG govt and higher taxes, etc. I'll be willing to bet they just start to associate themselves with what the left tends to believe and agrees with it simply because they place themselves with that group of people.

Sad, really.

I'll bet most, or at least a significant portion are libertarians at heart. And I think this is why the ROn Paul movement has this slow but VERY steady momentum. If anything - that's probably the healthiest type of momentum as well, meaning to me that it's mroe real than, for example, Obama's "momentum". I also believe because of that it is much mroe sustainable.

It's only a matter of time. People are waking up.

But we still have work to do... I will be contacting Carlin, regardless of what anybody here says, just to at least try. I believe some of you should as well.

If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Thinking the same thing...

Watched it today and my initial thought was, wonder if he's voting for Ron Paul, how to contact him for his thoughts concerning endorsement. He has always been truthful to the extreme, at 70 he's no different. Gotta love him!

George Carlin is a left wing socialist. What about that routine made you think he would ever be in favor of free markets and individualism?

The capacity for self delusion is alive and well among the faithful. My entire adult life people have been claiming "this celebrity" or "that politician" is a libertarian. And almost 100 percent of the time they have been insanely wrong. Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood, Ronald Reagan, etc. and on and on.

Here are your libertarians: Penn Jillette, Drew Carey, Doug Stanhope. You may be able to add one or two to that list. But that's about it. I'm in my 50's and friends, the list has never been any longer than that. Get over it. There are a few million of us. While it would be nice to have celebrities, it is not essential.

Oh, and the people who claim to be libertarians and aren't is an even longer list most of the time and do us much damage: Glen Beck, Bill Maher, Neal Bortz, etc. Douchebags all.
