Ever since the following song came out, I've had friends suddenly getting married ALL over the place.. before that, NOBODY was getting married..

YouTube - Beyoncé - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)

Admittedly I'm OLDER now, but even younger people I know have been getting married.

Anybody else notice a step-up in weddings in the last year or so, or is it just me? I'm not saying all these weddings are because of the song as I can think of numerous other things that influence each individual decision, I'm just seeing if I can pick-up a trend here cause I know I'm seeing one..

That happens every recession.

Edit: Weddings, not "social manipulation"

Also, assuming this is true, and there is a good reason behind it.. does anybody else find it odd that there are very few, or perhaps even ZERO pop culture songs that tell women to get married, and suddenly one comes out in the beginning of a recession? Is this the elite prodding the herds? Perhaps they used it as a a social experiment to see what kind of increase in weddings they can get from releasing a song and compare it to past recession increases in weddings?

Or maybe there is a demand for songs about people with normal lives and normal human desires?

You have an awesome imagination.

I guess it's possible...

Do you have any evidence outside of this song?

Well ya, just the personal experience.. like the wedding rate shot up 500% from family and personal acquaintances.. was wondering if anybody else was experiencing this.

I don't think the song had anything at all to do with it, but i do think marriage has lost its meaning so an increase in marriages is expected.

I've got a few to go to, all of them couples that have been together and living together for years. Went to one last weekend. Was good times seeing my retarded cousin in law get drunk and busy on the dance floor. He found the sluttiest girl out there and went after her like a horny dog.

Wedding rate/baby rate shot up 1000% in my circle of friends, family and acquaintances, but I think it's because I'm in the middle of being a punk ass teenager and a responsible adult.

Yes, simple things like hit songs do subvert people into having their immediate emotional needs satisfied.

Some more than others.

Idk what it is about that song but I really hate it. My supervisor used to play it at my old job and, damn, did it get on my nerves.

I really do think a lot of people are just that stupid and easily manipulated to allow some shit song like this to sway their conscious and subconscious thoughts.
