Romney is an establishment player. Part of the rules are that no Paul gets to be VP. It doesn't matter to the power brokers if it's Soetoro or Mittens. The specter of a Paul one step away from the Presidency would be the height of unacceptability to the elites. I'd be surprised if that weren't completely off limits for Mittens. I'm also guessing that neither Mittens nor his campaign staff actually pick his running mate. That would come down from higher up.

I never thought of this scenario. Thank you. But the power brokers would likely "persuade" Newt, Mittens, and Frothy to get some agreement going between themselves. Strongly persuade. It really is disappointing that ANY Ron Paul "Supporter" would, even if only in theory, vote for Romney, merely for the faulty reasoning that "The Message" would reach a bigger audience. The only message that would send is that Ron Paul is for sale, and that his supporters are idiots.

I won't vote for Romney no matter who his VP is. I find Romney's foreign policy "White Paper" the stomach turning and don't see him turning his back on the bankers or pharmaceutical companies that donated all that money to get him elected and are going to want something in return.

I suggested Mitch Daniels because Romney's advisers had worked with Daniels previously and I think Daniels, like Cheney was for Bush, would be the loyal "team player" Romney would need to have his back. They go together like "love and marriage" or a "horse and carriage" or "ham and eggs."

I'd rather ANYBODY be Romney's VP besides a Paul. If that happened, like you Mattew Zak, I'd feel duped.

Yeah there was a press statement earlier (just skimmed the headline so no details) where Romney was stating Santroum wasn't an option for VP.

I think what Romney is really looking for is anything that will engender some excitement about him in the party base and make him theoretically electable in the general
